If Conor loses, could he still fight for the Welterweight belt at UFC 200?

No. This thread is silly. The hype train will stop.

Even losing Conor would still be a big star, but if he takes a lot of damage (and a split decision loss against a monster like RDA is a lot of shots taken), he may not be ready for a 4-month turnaround for UFC 200.

The only appeal of him fighting at WW is if he captures the LW title. Why would anyone want to see a FW, who can't win at the top level at LW, fight the WW champion??

Lawler would be a better stylistic match for conor than rory.

Yes. And then when he loses against the WW champ, he will challenge for the MW belt, and so on

I could see the hype for Conor vs the heavyweight champ. "McGregor is the only fighter in UFC history to lose title fights in 4 different divisions Joe"

I know it is not going to happen, but it would be amazing if McGregor loses the LW championship but ends up defeating Lawler for the WW title at UFC 200.

FW and WW champ, but not at LW, lol.

Nah. Makes no sense.

Most top 15 WWs will easily UD him. Top 5 will finish him in 2.

I don't think he should move to WW, if he really wants to maybe BW, but it would be too much for his body, I think just stick with FW and LW.

Well a win at FW gives you a title shot at LW
A loss for Gus gave him a title shot at LHW.
Who knows any more.

If it would sell ppv it would prob be doable.
I dont see it happen but when it come to entertainment and making money...
