why not Lawler? I know the WW division is more stacked. but cmon, who wouldn't wanna see that again. and how that fight played out the first time around I say give Robbie the rematch.... depending on Bigg Riggs injury return. do it. who cares if Johny hasn't fought anyone else since then, hes the champ. he doesn't have to.

hard to believe Robbie is only 32, seems like hes been around forever

i'd be up for seeing this fight any time, but you kind of answered your own question i nthe first sentence... there are (were) no contenders at heavyweight, WW is doing alright for names that could make a sellable fight

There are too many serious contenders at WW to give Lawler another shot right away.

This, and the fact that there was NO ONE at HW other than Cain and JDS. Even without a top ten win, I say Brown deserves a shot more than Lawler right now coming off such a boss 7-fight winning streak. But MacDonald/Woodley winner will probably get the next shot, so Lawler/Brown for #1 Contender seems to make the most sense.

difference is tho Cain and JDS are so head n shoulders above the rest of the HW division its obvious whos going to win when they are paired against other fighters.

Robbie still could lose to Woodley, Lombard, or Rory.

JDS isnt losing to anybody not named Cain.

I'd like him to derail Matt Brown hype train first.

    HW isn't exactly deep.

And WW has 5 or 6 fighters in the top 10 that gold enough for a title shot.

Comparing what works for HW and WW doesn't work well as HW is so stupid thin on actual talent.

When T-wood beats Rory he'll get the shot.

Lawler and Matt Brown will fight for next #1 cont.

No argument there. Just put the information out there to avoid the brazilian bias and bashing that has been going on lately...

I'd still watch hendricks vs lawler II no problem...but i'm also looking forward to woodley and lombard getting title shots...

I agree with you TS. He just stopped Jake and had a super close with Hendricks.

If Twood handles Rory I'd be ok with him getting the next shot though.

What I'm more concerned of is if Twood, Lawler or Lombard win, will any of them fight each other??

because JDS had a KO victory over Cain, is it that hard to see the difference?

JDS got a shot because for one thing, he beat Cain in the past and most importantly there were no other contenders. The Robbie Lawler situation is much different, though it was a great fight, he clearly lost, plus there are other contenders in the division. There's no need to rush a rematch, he can work his way back up

    1. JDS was the champ when Cain beat him.
    2. JDS had already beaten Cain
    3. No real contenders at HW (heck Bigfoot got the title shot in between)

Yeah, I agree. I don't see another fight in WW that I would love to see more (unless for a GSP return vs Hendricks) than this rematch.
