If Chael beats the No. 1 Contender, then he rightfully becomes the No. 1 Contender.

It's ridiculous how everybody is freaking out over the possibility of Sonnen getting another title shot. Vitor accepted this fight knowing his contender status would be on the line, this was his choice.

If Sonnen can grind out a victory over the obvious No. 1 contender then he rightfully deserves a title shot. Don't be so damn dramatic Sherdog.

No. Even if sonnen completely annihilates vitor, Jacare deserves it more.

Exactly! Its not like Chael is getting an immediate title shot....He's having to fight the number one contender for it.

    Its very simple stuff.

That's not how it works unfortunately. Or maybe fortunately in this case.

You're asking people here to think, that was your first mistake.

I'm ok with it. Chael is putting his ass on the line and deserves to be rewarded should he manage to pull off the win

Who cares, the guy is fighting the number one contender.

You're telling me that if Rumble Johnson had a fight against Werdum or JDS and beats one of them that he'd have to go to the end of the line. That would be ridiculous.

You beat the number one guy, you become the number one guy...very simple math.

I think he should get another fight before getting a title shot if he wins.

Another thought; the biggest winner of this whole debacle is likely to be Chris Weidman. Assuming he gets past Machida, the PPV points on his next defense are going to be huge after this crazy fucking build up

No, no, no & hell no.. Wanderlei & Chael deserved each other. Rankings were close, they wanted to fight, Wanderlei punked out.

That in no way makes Chael deserving of a #1 contender's match.. Vitor is a savage & will fight anyone especially someone that dogged his home country. Of course he wanted the fight. But there were guys ranked below Chael that would've jumped at the opportunity as well.

Chael lost his last fight. Not only lost, got the shit kicked out of him & folded.. I like the guy but no way he deserves a title shot with a win here... Jacare, Rockhold, hell even dickhead Kennedy deserve it more.

This whole situation is just bullshit...

Great. That's perfect timing for the next title shot in Sept or October.

Only Jacare is sidelined, Rockhold hasn't beaten a top ten guy since his ass whooping from Vitor, and who cares about Kennedy.

Chael's last fight at MW was not only against the champ, but against the GOAT, so I don't mind that he gets to fight the number one contender.

Vitor's a beast, and I doubt no one wants to fight him, good on Chael for taking the fight, and if he wins, then he deserves the title shot.
