Could it free up more resources to combat sex trafficking and child molestation?

I love weed, but I find it very imposing to have to smell it absolutely everywhere I go now. it's an overpowering smell and it's annoying. I can't think of anything to really do about that, I'm very in favor of it being as legal as can be anywhere and everywhere.

better then smelling nasty cigs

It will be legalized on a national level eventually though I imagine states will have the option to still keep it criminalized and it will stay illegal in those states longer.

There are a lot of resources put into marijuana prohibition so if you legalize it and shift using resources towards other crimes in theory you would be able prevent other crimes like trafficking/rape/littering/jay walking etc...

It depends on what you make a priority/spend resources on.

Even if it's legal, laws will still be in placed nationwide so the government's make majority of the profit while regular folks are blocked from earning a living. That's how the system works.

Was not expecting this when I clicked.
If pot was legalized (as it should be) it would bring in billions of tax dollars

It being so fucking innocuous yet so fucking illegal is the original mental illness.

Old Grady is great.

Yes though. Yes it would. It’s been illegal for how long, and yet usage persists. Tax it and actually use the money from it properly

I mean I hope police departments have a ready stopped wasting time and resources on people who have weed. It was always a waste.

I view this as two very separate but important topics. Marijuana legalization should be in the far distance of this country's history. For many states it seems to boil down to whether or not there's more income to be gained from legalization taxes or the financial penalties associated with marijuana.

As a father of an 8-year-old daughter catching child predators is of crucial importance. The war on drugs taught us throwing more money at every social issue doesn't always alleviate a problem. If data shows there's a direct link of law enforcement missing a significant number of opportunities catching and convicting sexual offenders because of a lack of financial funds, I can't think of a better way of dispersing state income.

Well it's legal here and the people that drive and smoke is unreal.
You can smell it from other cars even when they have windows up.
Our daughter asked what that smell is. I told her it was pot and it's legal if you're 21 but it's illegal to smoke it and drive. But like alcohol some people ignore the laws.

I really don't understand how they function enough to drive.

Vape Pens like Rove have little to no smell and it only takes 2 hits for a great buzz... or at least that is what I am told?

Rumor has it that one gram costs about $55 and lasts more than an 1/8th of flower. It comes around 85%-90% THC, so very little is needed. Rumor has it.
