JDS had no intention of grappling with cain. He did everything he could to just get up. Do you think it would be wise for him to maybe chill and work gaurd or subs. Seems like submissions and these guys dont get along.

No offense to JDS but I think his guard would be useless. I just can't picture him in guard, trying to gain position. Maybe hold on for a stand-up but an active guard? No.

JDS seems like a brawler.

It would be wiser for him to take advantage of Cain's missed takedowns. Even Junior said he was too preoccupied with keeping the fight standing and missed a lot of opportunities.

Next time Cain goes diving for a leg and misses, like the first few minutes of the first round Junior should be all over him.

Thats seems like a recipe for disaster for JDS. I highly doubt JDS is going to submit Cain, playing guard would just give Cain more time on top which he would use to batter and tire out JDS.

JDS needs to get to his feet - his best place to win a fight - as soon as he can.

I'd like JDS to show off some awesome ground-game but Velasquez in not the guy you want to try to show it off against.

Man, I love JDS and believe that he knocks the block off of every fighter in the division...

But Cain -- that guy just might have his number. Either Junior blasts him early on or its a repeat of the second encounter. Which would be awful to watch, again. Styles make fights, etc, etc.

He said he would work more on his jiu jitsu instead of forcing the standup, but the main thing is that he said he would protect himself with his hands, not his chin :D.

Strange why he did not do this. Thought the same thing the whole fight.

If Cain vs JDS 3 happens, JDS will win and once again become the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion of the world.

This. In the opening minutes of that fight JDS stuffed 3 or 4 of Cains takedowns easily, but instead of trying to pounce he literally just turned away and backed up which I remember being extremely confused by at the time. Of course then he gassed anyway and got his ass kicked for the next 4.5 rounds so who knows if it would have helped him.

Have to agree with Junior's assessment in that he was thinking too much about keeping the distance and trying to strike with Cain instead of adapting his game plan to new opportunities. He's so comfortable striking he didn't think to take opportunities on the ground when he should've.

Looks like he's learned his lesson and is planning on using his ground game against Hunt if the need arises. We'll have to see.

Vinny magalhaes wouldnt have a chance if his on the bottom against velasquez

Cigano will KO him again. These 2 will fight each other at least 5 times.
See I can't picture that happening. The way I see it going into the third fight (which I dont think will happen, get the feeling hunt or silva will shock the world)santos had to do one thing in the second fight. Land a flush shot like in their first meeting, and he had 25 whole mins and couldn't manage that. Now while in the first fight he landed it right away I think NOT being to land it for 25 mins in a rematch speaks in greater volume.

Unless the fight happens like 5 years from now, he's not going to develop a guard good enough to fight off Cain anytime soon... It doesn't just happen overnight (unless you're an extremely talented fellow).

I think this fight will happen and I think JDS will be more aggressive from the get go. I don't think he has any illusion of beating Caine on the ground.

He now knows 2 things:

- Cain has a really difficult time taking him down
- Cain packs a hell of a hard punch

I believe JDS won't allow himself to take his time and let one of those punches land.

I would say Cain (or anyone) would have a difficult time holding JDS on the ground.

Cain punches relatively hard as most HWs but the second fight showed that JDS had trouble defending himself when there is a danger of going to the ground. I think JDS is afraid getting GnP'd or submitted. As much as fans say JDS was not in danger when Carwin tried to guillotine him, Junior looked scared and had his hand in the tapping position rather than trying to get wrist control.
