If Cain got a rematch after one win, why shouldn't JDS?

I see people saying JDS needs more wins before he should get a rematch against Cain, but everyone seems to have forgotten the fact that Cain got one after only one win.

Maybe it's not the fight we all wanna see, but it certainly isn't fair if JDS has to work his way back to a title shot while Cain was given a relatively easy fight before getting a rematch.

because they already fought twice. What, youre gonna want to see a fourth fight in JDS wins by KO in 1 more fight after?

well, if one top 10 retires, another get suspended a year, 4 others agree to do TUF, and another gets crushed, then he probably will.

It completely depends on the performance on JDS's next opponent.

If you recall, Cain absolutely dominated Big Foot.

If JDS destroys his next opponent he should get a rematch

Fair is Fair

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand this is the answer

There's no absolute method people. Shit happens and they make the matches based on what they have to work with.

This is why I'm always saying rankings don't matter...

it's like these kids think these decisions are each made in a bubble....

dont get too ahead of yourself - everything resets after one fight

if jds knocks someone out, people will call for the rematch

and if cain / overeem is next, jds will prob get winner, realistically, assuming he wins impressively as well

Why do people want a 3rd fight so soon?

Because you can't continue doing this back and forth thing all the time because your guy lost.

Because the last time was a 5 round slaughter.

Because there are other prospects to build up and give the opportunity to.

Because it would make more money to wait out the rubbermatch and build up anticipation again if JDS can prove he's still a huge threat and finish other fighters rather than the brutal beat down still being fresh in everybodys heads.

Getting caught's a lot different than getting thoroughly dominated for 25 minutes. Even Dana said it takes a little time to get a rematch after a loss like that.

I think JDS should win 2 more fights against top 10 fighters before getting a title shot and Cain should defend his belt against people other than JDS for now.

IMO they could have their own division and fight each other every six months. Let's say that they fight 10 times and the better fighter will take this.

... I've had it with these rematches, a lot can happen in MMA and if you lose you work your way up there again. They already fought twice so let it go, please.

It's only fair that JDS get a rematch after 1 win.

plus the UFC is absorbing strikeforce fighters, making the list of possible contenders even larger.

the point is the same. if Barnett gets suspended, Werdum gets hurt, Mir and AO get beat, Carwin & Nog retire, and Cormier and Struve and Hunt and Bigfoot to TUF, $1 says JDS gets a fast title shot.

if all those things don't happen, he might not. regardless of Cain getting one b/c he was theo nly contender available in 2012.

Mostly because Junior KOd Cain early, which is much less telling than what Cain did to Junior. The first fight showed us that Cain needed to avoid getting caught and implement more wrestling in order to beat Junior, the second fight showed us that Junior has a lot of improvements to make in order to beat Cain. His cardio, his BJJ, his striking when also faced with the takedown. Cain came out and showed what he could do when fights like he usually would against Antonio Silva, it'll take something like that for Junior to show he deserves the rematch. Unfortunately there's not too many people out there like that for Junior, so it will take more than 1 fight to show he's ready for Cain.

Also, the fact that there's more contenders out there right now than when Cain got his title shot.

For the record, I'm a big Junior Dos Santos fan and I still truly believe he can come back and make the improvements needed to beat Cain.
