Two part question.... Would he be above Cormier as an all time great light heavyweight and where would he be placed if so? Johnson's run since the loss to DC has been devastating, KO'ing the entire contender line in Gustafsson, Bader, Glover, Manuwa and more.

I ask because another MMA friend of mine said no because of Cormier's ability as an round mixed martial artist whilst Johnson relies on one aspect of his game.

Where do you rank both of them right now in the list?

If Johnson beats DC, especially by ko, he would be right behind Jones imo. If not he would be a great striker who folded in the big fights(like when his corner was saying not to give up"
I think DC is undeniably great, but I think DC should have been able to finish a dangerous but clearly past his prime Anderson Silva and has generally been winning by far smaller margins.

Rumble is great but I think he would get a TKO against DC and it would be run back and DC would get the upper hand the third time out.

Depends on how he does it really.

If he stuffs and dominates DC for like 15 minutes and then KO's him, yeah i think so

    Right now I got
    1 Jones
    2 Tito
    3 Chuck
    4 Wanderlei
    5 Shamrock
    6 DC

I personally think both guys need to have more time at this weight class to be considered all time great light heavyweights. If Rumble wins by KO, then they'd be 1-1 and I wouldn't change my list until the rubber match

How do you figure that? DC will be pretty old by that time

Depends on the rubber match. That would make them 1-1.

    No.

    he'd have to keep winning.

Cormier beat all the guys except jones, and actually defended his title with no roids involved.

If he KO's him in a dominant fight, where he stops a takedown or so id rank him over. I think he didn't want to finish A. Silva out of respect for his legacy.

And that creates problems because Rampage destroyed Chuck twice and even shattered his chin.

Then the next problem is Want destroyed Rampage twice, but got KO'ed in return later. These greatest ever lists will always be flawed due to fighters improving and then declining at different times

Not that much. One of his knees is fucked. He is avoiding surgery because he cant afford to miss 12-16 monts at his age. Dc is already showing signs of decline.

He'd have koed the entire top five at lhw, six of the top ten.

Then, after jones comes back and gets koed, too, you'll all realize who the real lhw goat is.

Ithink DC didn't want to take any risks, he was happy to grind out each round in AS guard and take the very easy win.

I also think AS was happy to control DC in his guard a lose a very easy decision.

A 32 year old fighter (in his prime, or just past) KOs a 37 year old fighter (well past his prime, likely on a steep decline). Hard to say that would suddenly rocket Johnson ahead of Cormier.

If he KO's DC, he would enter the LHW GOAT category, he'll also have the greatest come back story in MMA going from being cut at WW to being the best LHW in the world.

And Jon Jones will not be able to pretend like he's the real champion anymore since AJ will finished all these guys that Jon had trouble decisioning.

But again this is a big if.
