If Anderson were to retire tomorrow, who do you think would become MW champion?

And why? I think Weidman would be, he can take down and sub great strikers and can out-strike great grapplers.

I suppose it would depend on who the two fighters were fighting for the vacant title. But I agree the Weidman would be the champ if there were some sort of tournament.

Chael would come back down, talk his way into a contender's match, beat Weidman, and get subbed by Lombard or Jacare is his first defense.

    Lmao

The idiocy on this site is overwhelming at times. Weidman is a scrub; who has he beaten? Munoz? Lmao ya, that's a strong indicator that he'd be Silva /sarcasm

    Okay. Let's stop right here.

The fucking Jacare hype is out of control. He lost to Rockhold. The decision may have been a tad controversial, yeah, but the fact of the fucking matter is, he lost to Luke Rockhold, and it wasn't that long ago. Jacare has all the tools to do great at MW, but he's far from the big man on campus. I'd expect Bisping to be champion before Jacare. Stylistically, Okami and Bisping are nightmares for Jacare. He subbed Ed Herman, and has other solid wins, but he isn't the worldbeater everyone is making him out to be.

Anyway, to answer the TS' question, I think it'd be Machida. I think I remember hearing him say he could possibly make 185, and if he did without getting too drained/zapping his cardio, I think he would run MW. If Machida didn't move down, Sonnen and Weidman seem like they'd be top dog, although I'd expect the belt to change hands frequently, unless Machida was champ.

Weidman, probably. Hector Lombard would be right there with him to the end as well.

Weidman, but I'd really REALLY like to see him fight Anderson before Andy retires so we'll never have long stupid year-after-year debates about what would have happened had they faced one another before Anderson retired

    Nick Diaz vs Jacare

    Weidman vs Lombard

    Rockhold vs Sonnen

    Id say 50/50

    Either Jacare/Lombard

I KNOW. This DUCKING business is out of control. One of the best fighters in the world is ducking the PRODIGY of greatness in Weidman. I always knew the Spider was afraid.

Mousasi only moves down for a fight against Anderson.

If Jacare fights at 185 in the UFC, I see him becoming the champ. when he got pissed at herman, he SQUASHED him. Submitting the wrestler/JiuJitsu fighter easily. Imagine what he would do too most anyone else if he were too get pissed off. YOu canot discount hermans ground game, and Jacare STOMPED it. He could be 185 champ if he sets his mind too it.
