If we're stricly talking UFC fights Diaz went into the GSP fight on a 1-1 record and coming from a loss.

I ran out of title space, sorry bro. Use some deductive reasoning, you can crack this case why I just know you can!

    This is some silly shit.

1-2 in his last three is better than 0-1 in your last one, or 0-2 in your last two, which I think have happened.

Not to mention, it's Anderson F'n Silva. If there's one guy where you don't cherry pick from his record...

Plus, by your same "pick a segment of time that suits you" reasoning, his record would be 1-0, tied for the all time best record in the last one fight to ever get a title shot.

If you mean his last 3 fights. Well it is obvious they would sell the third fight as Anderson was being too cocky in the first fight (apparently Rogan says Silva was winning until the KO), and that the 2nd fight was a fluke injury. But it is marketable cause Silva is the "GOAT". With that said, I don't think Silva will fight for the title again.

I'm not just picking it out of thin air, it's his current record after he last lost. That's pretty standard procedure my friend...

He'll be 17-2 - The two losses to the current champ.

Really the only guy that has a right to be shitty if he jumps the queue is Rockhold [If he wins] and Jacare [But now he's injured].

Waiting an extra 4 months won't hurt Rockhold. It will be a bummer for Jacare though. His window is very short and he'll probably be too old by the time he gets his shot.

His record since he last lost would be 1-0 by the time of the title shot he presumably gets for beating Diaz.

The thing is, you can cherry pick your sample to support whatever conclusion you're trying to draw.

Include Chonan and Takase, and you can say, "Look at Anderson's record against sub top-10 competition. It's worse than Jason Reinhard's."

Or you can point at Stephan Bonnar and say his only losses ever are against current or former champions. What a Boss.

Sure, Anderson would have a losing record over his last three. Or you could say his only losses in a decade are to the reigning MW champ. Or he has a winning record in his last five. Or whatever...

Use the stats however you want. Won't bother me.

Clearly it will bother you, but I'm just going off of his most recent fights. He'd be on a 1 fight winning streak going into a shot. Deal with it.

    Your opening post.

In the modern era of the UFC?

Coming off of two losses with zero wins in the division would trump that.

Oh, I gotcha. He definitely wins. I'd forgotten about him, though I don't consider the second Bendo fight a loss. I'd forgotten about Nick Diaz as well.

Actually it would be some silly, ridiculous shit if he were to get a shot being 1-2 imo, with those 2 consecutive losses coming from the same guy he would be fighting. How does that even make any sense?

It trumps that on paper, but surely you can see how Edgar had a better argument than Silva would.
