If Aldo wins back the, what appears to be vacant, title and goes undefeated the rest of his career with never avenging his loss to Conor would you feel he was a "paper champ"?

I'm not looking to debate if he does or does not win the title or if he goes undefeated just speaking in this specific hypothetical situation.

Not even close. Look at his body of work prior to that loss. If he goes on another run with a few title defenses you can't argue with that.

No, but I'll say it to make people mad.

If Aldo retired before the Conor fight, All the next FW champs in history would be paper champs then?

See,makes no sense. Can't be a paper champ if the "real" champ is refusing to defend or retired.

Nah. I wont bitterly call his 13 second loss a fluke, but it in no way convinced me that if they fought again the outcome would be the same, or even close.

answering Ts, Aldo a paper champ is just stupid. Best FW to ever step in the octagon. GOAT FW and no one is even close.

that 13s loss was a huge accident. Bad move by him, good and lucky move by connor. This is really RARE to happen, but it does. JDS did the same to Cain 1st time they fought then was obliterated 2 times in a row. My bet is the same would happen to Connor, aldo being much better than him.

Definitely not. Deserves another shot at Conor but if he never gets it and he can continue his dominance, we will soon forget that fight ever happened.

Do you consider Lawler to be a paper champ because GSP retired..?

yeah.. Conor owned him in every aspect of the game.

Numbers, Money, Mentally, Physically, 13 seconds fastest knockout in UFC history against the p4p #1

Aldo was sonned.

Well... the question is, since conor retired, does that make Aldo Vs Edgar for the real belt??

I would think differently of Aldo if this happened only because he was FW champ for so long and is the FW goat. In addition, even though Conor won the FW title and beat Aldo he didnt do anything as FW champ and would have only held the title for half a year or so without defending it.

Not really the same, because lawler didn't fight GSP for the title and lose, then get it when GSP retired. Would be more similar to Cormier if Jones never came back. He fought jones, lost. jones suspended then he gets the title. if jones never came back that would definitely be a stain on corners legacy.
I'm personally hoping to see a rejuvenated Aldo, wins FW belt, then goes up to LW to fight for LW belt. With precedent set, they can't really say no to him again now. Aldo vs RDA in 2017. if he loses to frankie, i'm guessing he goes up to LW anyway.

A resounding NO !

Aldo, and Frankie have nothing to do with this.

A great point, I would say it is a paper belt unless McGregor is fully retired for about a year and a half. Similar to the GSP situation. At that point I would have no issue calling Aldo the champ if he, Edgar, or someone else holds it at that time.

Yah, I forgot to add that portion to my post that Conor would actually have to be retired otherwise we have a Jones or GSP scenario.

Id take Aldo against Connor if the fought again, and Im positive I wouldnt be the only one, IF Aldo wins the title again and for some reason walks away without losing again, nobody will care about the Connor loss.....Connor made his bed and if he EVER fight in the UFC again, He'll get the Roger Huerta treatment, terrible match ups so they lose most if not all of the fights.
