If a fighter doesn't tap but sleeps, why is it a sub loss?

As per the title.

Just something I found interesting.

Take HH as an example by definition she didn't submit, she lost to a submission move and went to sleep because of it.

I think it'll be great if the records can show give these warriors some recognition that they didn't tap. Instead of loss due to Submission they can call it loss due to TSubmission.

Well, it is a submission hold to be fair. If you're unconscious, you have lost.

But I suppose they could call it KO due to choke, or "Choke KO."

Because the definition of the word 'submission' in this context encompasses this scenario.

You don't need a person's permission to submit them. If you choke them out or break a joint, you have proved you are dominate and they are submissive.

That's why it's called a technical submission.

Becuase they went to sleep from a submission........................

I prefer to call it a KO myself, rather than a technical submission. Because technically and actually, Holly didn't submit to defeat.

What, should it be called Win (Opponent fell asleep in hte ring)? It's called a Technical submission, dummy.

I have always viewed them more as knockouts since they are removed from consciousness and did not submit. Tap from strikes, that's a submission though.

Technical submission sounds like proper terminology

"What a warrior, he let his knee get permanently demolished from that heelhook but atleast he didn't tap like a pussy!"

TECHNICALLY Holy was defeated by a submission. Hence TECHNICAL Submission

Tate defeats Holm via vicious strangulation.

It's a 'technical submission as others have stated.

Calling it a KO? No way, no thank you. KO's need to remain a product of striking (or occasionally slams).

If we put them together, phrases like "Fighter A is undefeated in twelve professional MMA fights, seven by way of Knockout ..." would no longer mean that the guy is likely a fearsome striker. It wouldn't mean anything specific apart from the fact that the fighter is very successful.

I like it how it is right now.

KO's are from strikes, or occasionally slams, and almost always due to head trauma.

Everything has its' little category and they each one elicits a specific meaningful inference to the way the fighter won.

Wow is this true? I never knew that

Indeed. Although you did not choose to submit via the standard tap, verbal or physical, your body submitted to the hold used and you were unable to continue.
