However, according to this survey, stats suggest you are better off with someone your own age;

Really depends on your fortitude as a person I suppose. If you feel the weight of social constructs quite keenly, I would guess not much over five years for a gap, with the woman (in a heterosexual partnerships) being the younger. Non heterosexual relationships would be much less subject to this pressure, though they have a host of their own pressures they are subject to.

If you don't feel the weight of the social construct as an imperative on your life though, and biological factors like producing offspring aren't overly important to you, really almost any gap could be very rewarding. That being the case, I would preface such a question as you're posing with a note about the pressure of social constructs in one's life.
