He was harder than NWA. He was equal to Easy on the streets. Respected by everyone as pimp. But he brought Gangsterism to Wax with 6 in the Morn and Colors.

He stole 6 in the Morning from a Philly raper but told how the West Coast was living.

As a true Artist he made a Rock LP that got banned for awhile.

The album cover made me get my last name tatted going down the front of my chest instead of my back.

Hes got a handful of great songs but his whole albums were usually pretty weak
He does have a solid list of classics though
Colors
6 In The Morning
High Rollers
Im Your Pusher
The Tower
New Jack Hustlers

Gotta disagree with that, Rhyme Pays was pretty raw and Power was half and half with regards to great production, but Iceberg and OG were stallar top to bottom. Lyrically untouched with regards to painting a vivid picture of the streets, Ice was up there with Curtis Mayfield and Iceberg Slim when it came to telling people how it was. And it wasn't all glorified either.
Production wise both were on point, Afrika Islam and Alladin did a great job.
Home Invasion was no joke either, unfortunately the last truly decent album he did.

Ice T is the reason I feel in love with hip hop, and I know KRS likes to claim Criminal Minded is the birth of gangster rap but its Rhyme Pays as far as I'm concerned.

I met Ice T many years ago after gigs in Brixton and Nottingham and I still rock my Iceberg and Rhyme Syndicate t shirts today.
Also Rhyme Syndicate was a massively important and influential independent record label at the time as well

Home Invasion is one of my favourite albums. Fond memories rapping along to that in P.7 on my Bush 'walkman'. Still know half the words to that album haha. Kinda ironic how hes spend so much of his post rap career playing a cop on tv, but hes still a total legend as far as im concerned.

pfft, dude's a fucking can.
and it's spelled Ice T, dumb shit.
not Tee
couldn't hold a candle to the real G's.
Eazy E called out all the names and he wasn't even one of em
that's how lowly he is.
