An illness has forced Ian Entwistle off the UFC 204 lineup a day before his scheduled bout.

A UFC official today told MMAjunkie an undisclosed illness has forced Entwistle (9-3 MMA, 1-2 UFC) out of his fight with bantamweight Rob Font (12-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC).

The news came just minutes before today’s UFC 204 officials weigh-ins were set to conclude; Entwistle didn’t weigh in, though Font successfully made weight.

By making weight, Font should be able to get paid his show and win bonus, it happened to Ian McCall before when his opponent could not fight but he showed up and made weight. Too bad to lose a fight right before weigh-ins, and it shortens the card to 11 fights. I was looking forward to seeing if Entwistle could keep his first round streak alive. Every fight he's been in has ended in the first round, win or lose.

Edit: Entwistle posted a statement

That sucks.

I had Enty as my underdog pick of the night.

Noone cares.

Font would have knocked his head off. Convenient illness.

Chael Sonnen would never pull out...

I was looking forward to Font beating him up, and Entwistle to complain about not being able to submit him.

Second scariest guy in the UFC after Anthony Johnson, at least based on his kamikaze style against lesser opponents. Looking forward to seeing him again, hopefully he has developed some defense :)

Me too...
Dude has a awkward way of fighting but he's nice to watch.

Yep. He's relentless for those leg locks.

I wasn't completely confident in Rob Font's ground game. Plus he's got real long legs that would be easy to latch onto.

Was looking forward to seeing Rob Font fight again<2>

illness = weight cutting

Damn...was hoping to either see Font get heelhooked or Font get a first round ko

Wouldve been an entertaining 2mins and Entwhistle saved himself some brain trauma. Font would've absolutely murdered him.
