It woulda been a great #1 contender fight. If cormier won, then yeah drop down. If Junior won, then great on him. The cain trilogy would be more anticipated too.

    Who would win?

Given DC would have owned JDS and not been a very good fight, it would be pretty dumb to have one of your contenders get their ass handed to them by a LHW just before he drops.

I'd take JDS. Cormier is smaller then Cain and wouldn't have grinded out JDS so easily...

You guys are forgetting Juniors fantastic TDD. Even in those Cain he still displayed stellar TDD. While getting beat up.

I didnt wanna go there, but rewatch their fights with Mir. Yeah. It was back to back too.

DC probably would have just used the same gameplan as Cain.

Back JDS up to the fence and outwork him from there lol.

Why? We saw what Stipe was able to do to him in those first couple rounds, DC would be able to be more effective and do it for 25 full minutes. JDS doesn't know how to get off the cage that well or he is so paralyzed by what Cain did to him that he just has a hard time in that position.

I like JDS a lot but man he needs to work on his rasslin a lot

I think if Cormier got hit with the same shots Stipe got hit with, he would go out. It would atleast be interesting.

People acting as though Cormier would dominate JDS are delusional. It would be a narrow decision for him at best, barring some kind of flash knockout.

I don't think that anyone would really care if JDS is out of the title picture. I'd rather see someone else be able to rise and JDS had his 1/10 win against Cain. He will continue to get beaten up for 5 rounds if he keeps fighting him.

I think the fight would look a lot like the Cain fights. This is the only gameplan he could possibly have. No way would Cormier stand on the outside and trade bombs with JDS.

Cormier does not fight like Cain though. It is extremely unusual the way Cain almost never moves backwards in a fight, he is always going forward pressuring his opponent. Cormier, just like all other MMA fighters, often moves backwards and away defensively to get out of harms way several times in a fight.
Watch Cain fights he is very unique in that his motion is always aggressively towards his opponent, i've never really seen another fighter consistently do this at all times.

It would be a bad fight for JDS especially if DC decides to wrestle him the whole match. Cain used a bit of everything but if DC starts tossing guys will be flying. :icon_lol:
