"I was not out. Just dazed."- Overeem (not contesting stoppage, just says he's ready)

He clearly wasnt out. He clearly took 10+ shots with seemingly no want to defend or continue.

It was definitely an early stoppage. Reem got robbed.

His issue is striking defense, it'll always be. I feel like he must spar with kickboxing or boxing gloves, He learned how to strike with those larger gloves, uses them for defense, and in MMA you block with your elbows not your gloves.

Glass jaw Reem. His head was bouncing back and forth like a bobblehead. He was out of it.

Ok well I have seen dazed guys who defended better than that...he was there on his knees eating punches without trying to block them, like no survival instincts...a guy who defends like that at hw will lose by tko, often.

Yeah he did absolutely nothing to defend, I don't know where he was planning on going trying to drag himself out. He should have turtled and attempted to roll to guard...

All he's saying is he wasn't out so he should be allowed to fight sooner, since he wasn't put totally out. He's not making excuses.

Agree with most of the posters in this thread. Reem was hurt and taking punches without defending himself whatsoever. It was a great stoppage.

He certainly wasn't unconscious but he would have been shortly. It was a good stoppage.

I don't care if he never becomes champ, that's not the point. It's the fact that since he was caught back before UFC 146, he hasn't been able to live up to the potential I know he has skill wise. You don't win K-1 Grand Prix' by being a shitty striker, you don't outgrapple Mir, submit guys like Vitor and win the European AD trials by being a shitty grappler. You see where I'm getting at? He's obviously got all the offensive skills and when his defense is atleast decently on he can beat a lot of the guys in the division but it's when his defense isn't as tight as it should be that he loses to guys that we all know skill-wise, he shouldn't be losing to and that's what pisses me off with Overeem. He has all the tools and he does show them but he still finds a way to lose.

I thought it was an early stoppage, too, he was clearly posted up on his arms weathering a barrage of punches. We've all seen fights go on muuuuch longer. Ex: Carwin vs Lesnar, Carwin vs. Mir, Henderson vs Shogun, Kongo vs Barry, the list goes on. Give the guys a chance to turn things around

He wasn't out in the sense that he was unconscious.

He was out in the sense that the fight should have been stopped.

Oh well. Get him another fight. Win or lose I want Overeem back in the octagon.

he doesn't defend intelligently once he gets rocked it seems. some guys just never learn to react to that. i think mir has had the same problem. and some guys shine after they get rocked.

He definitely wasn't out, and I thought the stoppage was a little early.
