If I was Shelby Id be pushing for this even tho Chito likely deserves better but if hes gunning for something like brittle Dom then whytf not?

I still take Chito tho in this if it happens soon

Havent really been following this kid but he appears to have some of the fastest hands in a very stacked division

Hes good for sure but I doubt he ever breaks top 3

Well I think Chito is too far ahead for this to be as good and as close as you'd like.

Vera has become a real monster with his cardio & durability causing some top guys fits.

Yanez is a very good boxer and pretty tough, but he isn't on Chito's level yet.

I'd say he's honestly 2-3 fights away from a fight like this, and that's assuming his next fight is a ranked dude.

Would be a great fucking fight. I think Yanez gets it done, but Chito would be a big step up though.

Yanez doesn't respond well to durable, unorthodox guys who are willing to pressure him and take a shot to give one back (usually from weird angles) -- all while keeping him from playing his crisp technical boxing game. That Grant fight was too close for comfort and Randy Costa looked to be en route to a potential TKO with his early flurry until he gassed out. Vera would get predictably touched up and look totally uncompetitive in the first round before becoming the downhill boulder he always is -- getting in Adrian's face and staying there until he inevitably runs him over.

Mind you, I say this as someone who loves Yanez as a prospect. Like his style, love watching him fight. Not the biggest Vera fan on the other hand. But the stylistic clash doesn't favor Adrian IMO; Chito is not an easy fighter to deal with and has made some serious strides in his game.

I get the feeling the promotion is purposely u derratinf Chito trying to turn him into some gatekeeper If they keep this up I think its closer to teality than some might think

Preach Yeah that head down move forward constantly pressure from Chito is daunting for this kid

But Chito is a slow starter I just have never seen anyone really hurt the guy He comes out looking fresher than when he starts

No, Yanez is still a bit too green for this, and he won't be able beat Chito with the gun-slinging approach he's taken thus far. Chito will eat his best shots, give them back, and start hurting him in the clinch if he ever feels he's in serious danger in the striking realm.

Maybe in a year or so. But right now, Yanez needs to take a few more fights outside the top 15 to polish and refine his game a bit.

His slow-starting is his biggest flaw. That and maybe his defensive grappling to a lesser extent (Aldo exploited it late, Frankie had early success taking him down and controlling him -- it's possible he might have been able to go back to the well with it had he gotten the chance). But Yanez is no wrestler, so the second one is out.

In a three-round fight I suppose I could see some scenario where Yanez banks the first round easy and does just enough to edge the second one while surviving round three. I wouldn't bet money on it, though. But in a five-rounder? No way IMO -- not unless Adrian makes major strides in his game. He might make it to the scorecards, but he'd be beaten to shit like Font.

Speaking of which, that's a good fight I'd like to see for Yanez moving up if/when it makes sense: let him and Rob throw hands.

great post dude
one of Chitos biggest strengths is his striking defense.

He rolls punches and is always going reverse at that exact perfect time when a strike is about to him.

Thats tough for this kid But he does have hand speed on his side so who knows

Would be a fun fight maybe sometime down the road if Yanez can climb the ranks. Unlikely to happen any time soon though, Chito's got bigger fish to fry. He's already ranked #5 in the world and is booked vs Dom. If/when he beats him, he has a decent claim at a title shot next (or at the very least one more #1 contender fight against a top guy).

Yanez should get a chance to break into the rankings in his next fight, maybe against the loser of Ricky Simon/Jack Shore or O'Malley/Munhoz. That BW division is absolutely stacked though and it'll be a tough climb of a few more wins against killers before Yanez catches up to Chito.

I think Chito might brutalize Yanez at this point. Yanez is a great but he’s very very hittable. Costa was putting in work before he gassed and that’s not going to happen in a fight against Chito and he’s got an iron chin, is plus grappler so he can mix it up. Maybe in a couple more fights once Yanez gets some more high level experience

Would be cool eventually.

For now, Yanez vs Phillips sounds good. Although they should probably give them both top 15 guys.

Yanez vs #11Edgar, Phillips vs #15Assuncao.

The matchup in a vacuum is very exciting! Chito should be looking at a title eliminator match with a win over Cruz though and Yanez has yet to crack the top15

I don't think Yanez is there yet. I'd like to see him face someone like Assuncao or Shore that are in that top 15-10 range.

Chito is a dogggg.... Rob Font would be a better fight since he's less durable than Chito but would also test Yanez out.

Yanez isn't even ranked (although he may show up at #15 this week). Regardless, Chito's #5 and is already scheduled to fight someone ranked below him. If he loses to Cruz, I wouldn't hate it, but him vs. Yanez is off the table as of now.

I like him against the loser of Munhoz/O'Malley, although I wouldn't be shocked if Munhoz drops to FLW if he comes up short.

Think Chito is a little too much much for Yanez right now. Chito just has too many weapons for Yanez to deal with.

Toss up
Chito is probably my fave fighter atm but his hands are underwhelming
Could see ya yanez catching chito with hard counters
