And I know I'm in the minority. You like your rankings and Wonderboy hasn't won any fights in the division.

But we saw Whittaker/Romero not that long ago, and it wasn't a great fight.

Meanwhile Wonderboy is arguably the best WW in the world but is stuck in purgatory because of the way the Woodley fights went.

He finished Whittaker, and I'd like for Robert to have a chance to avenge that loss, allowing a MW contender to emerge in the meantime.

Whittaker vs. Wonderboy II
plus
Romero vs. Gastelum
Weidman vs. Jacaré
Marreta vs. Branch

Why can't you just say "I'd like to see them fight again!" out of interest

Why does it have to be for a title? Acting all extra, smfh. I got dream fights too, man.

Gaethje vs Lawler would make me nut, but I'm not out here making threads like "Gaethje vs Lawler for the LHW strap pls"

You can fight outside your weight class without it being for a belt

Wonderboy gets mauled by Romero and most of the other top 10 MW's.

No mas.

Because Whittaker is middleweight champion. I don't want them to fight for another division's title. And I don't want it to be a non-title fight; what if Wodnerboy wins? Non-title fights only make sense in situations where a rule has been broken, e.g. Romero failing to make weight.

If Wonderboy beats Whittaker then he deserves to be MW champ. It's not like he's holding up the division; there isn't a clear contender right now.

WB is fucked lol. Too small frame to fight MW and with his pathetic performances vs Woodley will never get a rematch. He should just go to Ballator. Go beat up Rory again.

I wouldn't be opposed if he got a top 5 win at 185 first. Otherwise naw.

Whittaker fighting Romero is so illogical. No wonder an alternate fight needs to be made.

if he beats some1 solid at 85, then possibly.

doesnt look like a division suited for him with big ass grapplers like romero weidman jacare etc. lurking at the top. his frame is thin for 85, he wont be able to point fight and stuff td's vs those guys.

I don't think his frame is too small. He's 6ft with a 75" reach. He'd be light and fast, to suit his heavily movement-based style. He doesn't win at WW because of strength or power. He'd have height or reach over Whittaker, Romero, Jacare, and of course Kelvin.

People are obsessed with weight classes. You woulda said the same thing about Kelvin, who has a much smaller frame than Wonderboy. Yet he flatlined the former champ, boxed up Kennedy, and put Weidman on his ass.

You might be right about how he'd fare in the division. He apparently does very well in training vs Weidman. But I don't think they'd ever fight; they're practically family now.

Jacare and Rockhold don't have great takedowns, so they might have trouble closing the distance on him. Romero seems like a scary matchup for him though.

But on the positive side for him, he finished the current MW champ in round 1. Meanwhile at WW, he's in purgatory, having failed to take the title from Woodley throughout 10 mostly dull rounds.

Yes I do too. WME make the Whitaker vs. Wonderboy superfight!!!

The storyline Wonderboy is stepping up to fill in for his injured buddy GSP and aspires to be MW Champion while Whitaker is looking for revenge because their WW fight was his only TKO loss.

The problem is that no one has earned one at MW. You want Whittaker to sit on the sidelines?
Plenty of fighters earned ine before GSP skipped the queue.

Jacare was on a win streak, Romero & Mousasi. All got screwed. Now they're due to get what they already earned.

So wait, you're saying Romero doesn't deserve a title shot because he couldn't make 185 against Rockhold and your idea is to have a guy who also hasn't technically made 185 in the UFC fight for the title?

yea but to be fair whittaker wasnt near what he is now. kinda like holloways L's in the beginning before taking off.

Whittaker has already beaten the former two names, and relatively recently. I'd agree about Mousasi, but he isn't in the UFC.

I never spoke about that in the post you quoted. I think you're confused. The Romero/Rockhold fight was only a title fight for Rockhold because Romero missed weight. That's why I brought up Romero in the post.

But to answer you, Romero provided reason to believe he can't make 185. There's zero reason to believe Wonderboy can't. He might not even have to cut.

Thats fine but they both earned their shots before facing Whittaker and both got screwed.

They also deserve a MW shot now over Wonderboy.

Jacare beat Brunson. Romero beat Rockhold. Wonderboy beat nobody.

His win over Whittaker was when Whittaker was much younger, inexperienced, and spending most of his camp making weight.

Wonderboy wouldn't beat the guys Whittakers beaten and unless he proves he can hang at MW, the fight is pointless.

Anderson lost to Chonan. We didnt revisit the past for Anderson to school him in a rematch. We don't need to here.
