I want to see Weidman fight Yoel Romero so bad

I thought that was a great fight against Lyoto. The problem right now is that 185, aside from the champ, is very much a division that's technique over physicality-- Machida, Jacare, Mousasi. I want to see a guy who can get just as physical as Weidman. And there's definitely one guy in the division who fits the bill. This beast:

Unfortunately, it's probably a few fights away for both fighters. But this is the fight I'm really dying to see.

I wish Yoel was like 6 years younger, dudes a beast but damn he got started in MMA so late but who knows maybe he'll be a freak like Randy was and fight into his mid 40's

Any news on Yoel's next fight?

That's the problem! And it's exactly why I wish he could jump the line. I would so much rather see this fight than Weidman vs Jacare or similar.

Dude's jacked, he's got technique, and he's got natural athleticism. Make this fight.

yolo better win some fights then, he getting up there in age and everybody knows YOLO.

also, Weedman via TKO, prob early.

You can't gas in the late rounds against Yoel. He'll put you away. He's got KO power in the third.

Yoel would beat the shit out of Weidman and probably make it look easy.

Interesting fight for sure...

idk though, Weidmans got some true power. This fight might end in a knockout. If Romero focuses on on his wrestling, he could possibly out wrestle Chris.

No one remembers him getting wrecked by Feijao any more? Crush some lower level guys and guys are back on the hype train.

I think Romero would do great against Weidman if he performs like he did against Tavares. His wrestling is very real and he hits like a truck and utilizes some diverse striking. The only real problem is that Romeo has shown to slow down even in the second round, but if he can keep his composure he could give Weidman a tough fight.

I'm a Romero fan but you're getting carried away. He has aspects in his game that would be tough for Weidman to deal with but let's not forget that Brunson took 2 rounds from him.

1. it was in a different weight class

2. it was a huge leap in competition for Yoel, who was fighting no names previously.

3. He improves leaps and bounds after every fight, similar to Chris, and is a completly different fighter now.

Derek Brunson outstruck Romero for 2 rounds. Weidman would make it look easier.

And he is back to fighting no names now. you dont think Machida could wreck Brad Tavares, derek brunson, and ronny markes? Beating the number #50 impressively doesnt make you ready for the #1. maybe he should try someone ranked first.

top 5 is
Chris
Anderson
Machida
Vitor
Jacare

See anyone Yoel would be competitive with? I dont.

Yoel Romero had an excellent game plan.

By the end of the fight he had almost double the amount of significant strikes, and Brunson looked like he might be dead.

It's the fight that most excites me at 185, although there are some other good matchups.

I don't think he'd have much of a chance against Chris, but he's legit top 10 material. Could take Jacare and Anderson imo.

Try beating ranked fighters first before you get a crack at the belt

Yoel would have all of the physical advantages but Weidman has the intangibles. Would be a great fight.
