Hello Sherdog I would just like to share a few reasons why I think Diego Brandao is a legitimate threat to Conor McGregor, Cole Miller was clearly the underdog when he was suppose to fight Conor until he sustained a injury during training camp thus causing Diego to replace him. People thought that if Cole Miller would have won it would have been by via submission many said that would be the only way for him to win, Diego on the other hand in my opinion brings the same type of threat in the submission department as Cole Miller did. Also a thing to remember is that McGregor will be coming back off of a injury that has kept him from being active as a fighter for a few months nearly a year so that is something to consider.

Diego Brandao defeated Dennis Bermudez at the TUF 14 finale by via arm bar, Dennis is now currently #11 in official UFC featherweight rankings. Conor McGregor is #13 in official UFC featherweight rankings, Diego defeated Bermudez who is ranked higher then McGregor which technically means he defeated a tougher opponent. Diego Brandao is a very aggressive striker that is very dangerous in the first and 2nd round, Diego has been known to fade but I don't think it's due to a bad gas tank It's due to the way he pace's him self. He throws a lot of his punches at %100 as Joe Rogan said his punches seem like he's swinging a bat, there is a downside to this as well. When Conor McGregor fought Brimage he showed the similar aggressiveness of Diego and Brimage lost via TKO, Conor has phenomenal striking going forwards and backwards.

Diego Brandao was also doing quite good against Darren Elkins until he got tired, overall I do think Brandao does oppose a threat to McGregor. I think there's a few ways this fight can go, it could possibly be a replica to what happened in the Brimage/McGregor fight, Brandao could possibly hurt McGregor in the 2nd round dropping him and then proceeding with the finish of a submission. I can't wait for this fight and to see what will happened and who will be next for either opponent if they become victorious. -UniqueSteez

And yes, he is. Anyone is a threat to him at this stage in his UFC career. Despite all of his talking he's still quite green when it comes to facing tough competition.

He leaves himself open a lot and his cardio isn't great, those two things will be his downfall. Definitely rooting for him.

I think Diego's aggression is going to work against him big time. Connor will counter him half to death.

Might be a threat with his ground game and he has some good power. But I think c or uses his reach and angles just too well here

I agree Diego has a better chance than people are giving him. As long as he doesn't fight like a madman(not in the good sense) as he did against Poirier. It's just weird to refer to him as a "threat" to Conor McGregor, that kind of tone is usually reserved for champions and the like.

I don't see it, not with his terrible cardio and issues making weight. His style plays right into Conor's hands. It'll probably look like a repeat of the Brimage fight, lol.

Definitely a better fight. Think Brandao is overrated. But he can win this.

In before I get responses like, "& McGregor isnt?!"
