right?

Everything else is a front.

He probably got a lot of pressure to quit after that from his family and so on and maybe he's scared he'll be the first UFC death.

Either way that has to weigh heavy on your mind, he went from being loved in Ireland to they want to ban the fucking sport.

That's what I think happened, maybe add the recent loss too, McConor is McFragile right now.

the sport hasnt been banned in Ireland, there was like 2 people in the press saying it should be.... but it isnt

If he loses to Nate again it's over. That's what I think he realized.

Did they really ban MMA?

Yeah, Nate could kill him next time with a full camp...is possible

Run Conor Run!

what is over? you act like MMA fans dont have serious short term memories, he could lose that fight and win his next few in impressive fashion and everyone would forget all about the losses

but you keep believing what ever you need to believe

I think anyone who saw an incident like that would think twice about it.

I wouldn't hold it against him if he lost a lot of passion for the sport.

So you're saying two back to back losses against Nate wouldn't hurt Conor at this point?

Yeah, you keep believing what ever you need to believe.

Conor was never as big as he really was, he was all hype. A true legend earns his way to where everyone "make believed" that he is now.

He was basically UFC's whore that they tried to force to be too big too fast.

The expectations were so high for him, add that to the list of reasons he may have cracked under pressure to retire on Twitter while crying

Conor doesn't give a shit about those 2 things. NOT A SINGLE FUCK

i don't think he'd have been so flippant in his telling of his 'retirement' if it was due to the death of another man, though it must have drawn his focus into the realities of training and preparation a lot more. especially at the same time a boxer was all over the news for being beaten into a coma

it wouldnt help lol....... but as I said, all he would need to do is win his next few fights impressively and everything would be forgotten. Conor is a star, end of story

WTF??

the duck of the century, veiled by dana

end of story

I still think Connie would like the noombers to go up, not down.

He's not getting 10mill+ for a fight with Edgar/Aldo after two back to back losses.

I don't think that had much impact on all this to be honest.
It was a freak and VERY rare incident - 5 deaths in sanctioned fights in the entire history of the MMA. In boxing you're averaging something like 70 per decade.

Obviously you get a few ignorant idiots wanting the sport to be banned, but nobody really listens to them too much.

that cant even almost be an actual number.

The death was big news in Ireland, and as the face of MMA there he has taken a lot of flak in recent weeks.

One article in the Sunday Independent went:
“Is it good enough that a young man be beaten to death in a cage for our amusement? Is it good enough that as he begins the slow process of dying, lying on the canvas like a tranquillised cow in the abattoir, Conor McGregor, our most famous sportsman, is giving high fives all around, laughing, and beating his chest? Is it?”

I definitely think he didn't want to be seen getting in Nate's face, swearing and shouting insults etc so soon after the death. He would face huge criticism back home if he did that. It was at least one factor in why he wanted to avoid promotion right now.
