I prefer Berine but Hillary will be better

I think, if one of these two had to win, it would be better for Bernie to win.

Why?

Hillary is going to continue Obama's snake-like policies, and grind the country into a worse position.

Bernie is going to nose-dive into the mountains, and people will never elect another leftist democrat for 20+ years.

if you really think that then the only conclusion i come to is that we have very differing views in terms of what the big problems are in the country.

i look at things and i see huge hurdles. a massively growing wealth gap, delayed action on climate change, lack of regulation on wall street, rampant corporate greed, laborer abuse through lower wages, poor benefits and bad overtime structures.

and when i see those issues, i only see republicans that will enable them more. do you see these as problems as well? i think a genuine conversation on something like this would actually be beneficial, should you or anyone else be so inclined.

Sloppypie,

Before I answer your post, I'd appreciate a little background., if you are so inclined.

Do you have a job? How long have you been in the work-force? What is it you do? (Roughly, you don't have to be specific at all.)

I'm asking because I see a lot of MSNBC talking-points which are so easy to debunk, and they don't even require arguments. They require a few months in the labor force.

I await patiently for your response.

here is a pic from before the interview

Congratulations to you and your wife. A proud day for both of you.

i don't mean this to be a dodge, but i've lurked here for some time so i understand how a lot of these threads go. and attacking credibility is kind of a norm here - things like "you're just a libtard," "you're a right wing nut," etc. etc.

i'm interested in arguments and discussion. i don't know anything about you - you could be 12 years old who likes politics, or 70 years old and been all over the world. neither is particularly relevant to me if a bad argument is put forward - bad is bad.

i'm not interested in talking points either - the issues i laid out are ones that i've seen to be backed up by relevant facts of world circumstances. maybe you disagree that the above issues are even real. i'd find that odd, but fair enough, we can discuss it like men. the worst that happens is i think you are ignorant and you think me naive.

if you want context on me, i'll give you info on my own leanings:
1. i do tend to be liberal, particularly for social issues like gay marriage.
2. i'm extremely aggressive on any issue where there are predators and victims, such as crime, banks, whatever, and i advocate strict and harsh punishments.
3. i personally don't see modern relevance of the libertarian philosophy in extreme limited government, or worse, that government is inherently evil and shouldn't exist - yet there's clear problems of it being too big and cumbersome, and more importantly falling into apathetic traps and policies that hurt people rather than help them (the latter is very common).
4. i'm rather neutral on guns. i see good and bad arguments, and i tend to take it from cultural perspectives based on where we are talking in the US.
5. i really don't like religious intrusion into government, particularly when it invades privacy rights and attempts to dictate moral conduct. i especially dislike religion's influence on school systems and their anti-science stances.
6. i want to see our country make decisions for moral reasons, not practical ones that are based on profits. the most obvious issue of this has been abysmal VA system, where people love to say they love the troops, yet the second the spotlight is off them they just walk over the issue like it's a muddy puddle.
7. i am extremely pro free speech and i find a lot of the anti-speech on college campuses to be very troubling. technically now it's insignificant b/c it's not widespread, but it's extremely dangerous ideology and epitomizes anti-intellectualism in places that are supposed to be the opposite.
8. i'm very much anti-media. i find 24/7 news to be a legitimate threat to democracy, and i am concerned a constitutional battle will come when an administration attempts to break up large media conglomerates under anti-trust laws in contrast to freedom of the press rights.

so with my politico bio sorta established, my question still stands - do you see these as problems i laid out in my first post, if you do, and how/why do you think republican ideology can fix them (assuming that's where you lean towards, which i'm just assuming). based on my following of the primaries, i'll be voting for bernie or hillary (which i know is very unpopular on this forum). and while i dismissed trump at the outset, i have to accept that he is the leading candidate and to take his positions seriously, so that's what i plan on doing if/when i discuss these topics.

oh, and since i'm new to a mma forum (not to derail) - my first ufc ppv was anderson silva vs. travis lutter, i own a bunch of mma dvd collections (including the first fights), i've trained bjj off and over the last couple of years (every time i get close to blue belt i stop going and regress), my favorite fighter ever is shogun, and i love me some conor mcgregor and chris weidman. in fact, i find most of the divisions to be really exciting right now.

but pride was better, right?

IMO Bernie has a better shot at beating Trump than Hilary. Styles make fights.

I agree, none of Sander's crazy ideas will make it through Congress. Not sure Hillary will do any better, but she has a better chance.

Though I am libertarian I do like Bernie Sanders stance on wall street, defense spending and making Washington work.

But it seems that you need a politician not a idealist or revolutionary. That is why Hillary will be better.

Most likely congress will be majority republican. This means that you need someone that knows how to play the political game. And Hillary can do that plus she is not a centrist not a leftist.

This was the reason Obama did not get as much done as he could, he couldn't play the political game. The american president is not a ruler but merely a branch that needs the other branches support to create real change. Obama could never get congress to work because it was almost always a republican congress.

I think Hillary being a Washington insider knows how to play the game better than Bernie.

I like Bernie but probably most of what he says will not get done because he won't have the political support he needs.

What do you guys think?
That you are not a libertarian nor do you know what one is.

i don't mean this to be a dodge, but... (Insert dodge)

You don't work, do you?

That's all I was asking. Thank you for answering it.

When you have a job or two, and then a career, and you see how pathetic most of the "Labor Force" is, and you see that most of these people aren't like you. They don't care for knowledge. They want to come to work, do as little as possible without getting in trouble, and leave.

If you allow people to be lazy, and get free shit, they will. This is why socialism doesn't work. This is why communism doesn't work. It never has. It never will.

"I'm a Libertarian, but I want to expand government spending, which is already extremely bloated by 40%!"

Jesus H. Fucking Christ.

This seems like fairly solid reasoning.

Think I'll write in a vote for Pat Paulsen, again

Id most definitely vote for Berine over Hillary. Berine sounds like a spicy Latina who won't take any shit from the white (wo)man

I dont understand how you can be a libertarian and think Hillary would be better. Even librarians think Bernie would be better just based on the constraints of the philosophy.

The only ones who think Hillary is better are damp crawled political inbreds.

i kinda anticipated this. you were itching to attack credibility instead of arguments, which tells me you are another one of these lapdog conservatives that listens to angry radio hosts all day long then come here to regurgitate propaganda. so thanks for letting me know where you stand.

oh, and since you are so dying to know - i've been in the work force for 10 years. i had blue collar jobs in high school and college, worked my way through college and law school, worked in public/private enterprises, had my own law practice for a bit, and now i'm going to attempt to run my own business with a long time friend of mine.

happy? do i pass your test for a qualified american to discuss politics? b/c you don't pass my test, and i'll be happily avoiding and ignoring you in future threads. i recommend you check your ego b/c it's only going to hinder you in life.

Hilary might be the biggest liar of all time, but bernie is a socialist, which mean he lie to himself everyday.

i don't think 90% tax rate is in line with libertarian philosophy

Thats never going to happen. Bernie has a lot of flaws. He shouldnt be talking about increased tax rates or class war issues, he should be pushing for repatriating off shore tax havens.
