And everyone that was a hardcore MMA fan at the time knows it.

Right when MW became a shark tank he started getting stomped.

Leites? Cote who isn;t even a top 10 WW? Lutter? Maia who's now a top 10 welterweight?

No disrespect to the fighters above. Leites has had a great career but not elite. Cote is now a welter and hasn't been doing so well. Lutter is a pioneer but was not fit competition. Then he fights roided up against ANOTHER welterweight and doesn't do shit in the fight?

A. Silva's best win is Henderson, followed by Belfort, then Okami, then Griffin, then Sonnen.

His most impressive win for sure is clowning the former LHW champ Griffin who was only one fight removed from his belt. But again his best win is prime Hendo. Can't take that from him at all.

But during these years MW was easily the most shallow division.

LW and WW were still a shark tank and LHW back then was the deepest division of all.

As soon as MW started getting that deep talent he got KTFO'd.

I seriously love A. Silva and have him at #4 all time. But people need to start objectively looking at his wins.

edit: Sorry I forgot Franklin; both wins over him were definitely legit. Nothing but respect for those wins.

Heavyweight division was weaker back then

Brock Lesnar won the title from Randy Couture back then and he defended it twice

don't you think that also had to do with a lot of guys ducking MW cause he was reigning there? I really don't know if that's the case or what

edit: you forgot rich franklin in his best wins. say what you want but they way he dethroned franklin was very special and franklin was a serious top guy back then.

bisping disagrees with you.

Heavyweight when Randy was beating Sylvia? How about before Silva when Franklin was beating Shammy, Tanner and Loiseau? How about 205 when Tito to was five defenses deep against cats like Matyushenko?

TS... Go home. You're drunk.

Also, 2014 accounts are hardcore fans? Lol

Bisping and TS are both wrong. Anderson isn't number 1 GOAT, neither is he number 4. Fedor is easily 1, followed by 2. Anderson 3. Nog 4.GSP

He beat a godlike TRT Vitor.

MW was the second weakest division, but he reigned so long that he faced a pretty good number of good guys. Chaelx2, prime Marquardt, Rich Franklinx2, Hendo, TRTor, and Okami were all finished by him. He had early wins against Sakurai and Lee Murray too, so not exactly shabby. In fact, I'd be hard pressed to name another fighter with so many quality wins.

Now there are 2 year brown belt N00bs. Wonderful. He was undefeated for almost 10 years! 10 friggin years. I guess no one was any good at 185 during that period of time in that one division only. Oh, chuck must suck too. TS GTFO.

Rich Franklin x2
Dan Henderson
Vitor Belfort
Nate Marquardt
Yushin Okami
Chael Sonnen x2
Forrest Griffin
Damien Maia
Thales Leiter

At the time, Marquardt and Okami were legit badasses and deserving of title shots. Leites and Maia had earned shots and presented some problems stylistically.

Rich Franklin more or less had beat everyone else in the division not named Anderson at that point in time. Hendo is top 10 p4p of all time, Forrest was only a few fights removed from being LHW champ. Vitor is a future hall of fame and a former LHW champ. Chael was an awful matchup for Anderson with his wrestling.

When you look at where all these guys were ranked at the time, it's an amazing list of wins. Welterweight and LHW were probably better divisions at the time, but MW was no joke. Anderson not only won, but he stopped almost all of those guys, and usually stopped them incredibly violently.

And yet a guy who couldn't get into the top 5 to save his own life when Anderson ruled the division is now the champion.

People around here don't even realize the quality of Anderson's wins with proper context, and that's not including how he won a lot of those fights. More so, people forget that he was highly ranked at 170, once upon a time.

Suredawg...

Sure, that explains why Bisping is champion.

Gotta love those 'I'm a huge fan of X but...' threads.
