Everyone respected the hell out of Jordan even though he was a jerk. Jordan NEVER would have taken a year off and got fat after he lost. He was straight to the gym and obsessively working on his weaknesses (not pretending it was a strength like Ronda did with her boxing). He didn't cry, hide behind a pillow, talk about killing himself and quitting forever when he failed. Failure just made him even hungrier to get back in the gym. He was by far the mentally toughest athlete of all time and he had 100 times the presser Ronda did. Anyone who compares Jordan and Ronda doesn't know shit about Jordan or Ronda. How they acted after a loss is night and day

Nobody liked Jordan. Respected his skill on the court but people didn't like him. His own teammates didn't like him and didn't want to play with him. This is the same guy that punches out his own teammates, goes gambling during season to the point where it's an addiction and slept around on his wife. This is the guy you're saying is much better? A guy who cried when they wanted another player on the dream team and he say he won't play if that player makes the squad.

And Jordan actually did cry after not making his highschool basketball team. He has said that himself. This is the same guy that quit basketball mid career because he said he lost the passion for the game. Jordan is the biggest bitch there ever was. Selfish af. Worst teammate ever.

Dude is still terrible. Refuses to take a political stance in anything. Gets pissy anytime anyone wants to give him any type of criticism even if constructive. Dude was one of the all timers but let's not make it seem like he was adored.

This is bullshit. Jordan was a dick, but everyone wanted to play with him even if they didn't like him. He commanded a respect that no one ever has or likely ever will. Have you heard the team mate he punched, Steve Kerr, talk about Jordan? He sounds like he is going to jizz his pants any time he brings Jordan up

My point was, Jordan and Ronda handled defeated and advercity completely differently. JOrdan retired after he perfected his game and dominated. He then came back to dominate some more, even adjusting for his fading athleticism. Ronda got fat and stopped training, contemplated suicide and wanted to retire after the first sign of adversity. Jordan became a perfectionist obsessed with fixing his weaknesses after he was cut from his HS team. Ronda would have given up in the same position. Jordan is a jerk as a person, but mentally as an athlete he is what everyone should aspire to be (but not as a person). It seems like you just don't like him (Jazz or Knicks fan?) because nothing you said relates to the comparison between his and Ronda's mental game

And yeah he kinda was adored. He is the most popular athlete in American history not named Muhammad Ali. Every kid growing up in the 90s wanted to be like Mike. Pretty much every basketball player in the 2000s idolized him. Players like Kobe based their entire game around him. His peers he played with and against speak higher of him then anyone. He still sells more merchandise after retirement then any athlete in the world
