Maybe in his prime, but at this point in his career, who could he defeat?

He was once a beast, but...

I could see him in a good scrap with Aaron Riley or maybe Vinc Pichel. But I think he loses both of those.

Thoughts?

Uh, he did beat the guy that's gonna fight for the LW belt... so yea I'm pretty sure there are guys he can beat

Thomson would beat him now. All the top guys beat him even in his prime. Him vs. Mac Danzig could be cool, loser leaves town

i know he's older now and a lil past his prime but he's at 145 now, i definitely think he can still get some big wins there. i mean he's on a 5 fight win streak, and his loss before that was to gil. and just 2 years ago he handled josh thomson

You think that Kawajiri would lose because he is no longer in his prime vs a guy who IS actually retired?

Makes sense, totally

Well then why couldn't Thomson beat him before? Its not like they fought 10 years ago lol

Abel Trujillo
Roger Bowling
Fabricio Camoes
Mike Chiesa
Mac Danzig
Mitch Clarke
Cody McKenzie
KJ Noons
Tractor Oliviera
Mike Rio
Sam Stout
Thiago Tavares

Off the top of my head

He is a FW now so I can see him beating a handful of guys maybe even break the top 10 beating guys like Guida and Lentz with his bigger size and probably better wrestling.

But I don't expect to much Japanese fighter at the age of 35 entering the UFC... and has been fighting since the Pride days. He has to be slowing down sometime soon, hope he still has some good fights in him.

As much as I hate to say it I see his trajectory as follows:

First fight, decent scrap until flash KO
Second Fight, a hard fought decision against someone he's expected to beat handily
Third fight, quickly submitted by up and comer and released.

That pains me, but I'll return to this thread once that occurs

If this as accurate as your sig, well then we, Kawajiri fans, are now more confident than ever about his upcoming UFC career

edit : so you changed your sig no longer mentionning Gus knocking out Bones cold. Good for you

Kawajiri vs Zombie!! Or Poirier or Koch would be wars. Plenty of good matchups for him, just don't feed him to any top dogs just yet

Wrong division. He fights at 145 now.

He is older but has a style that should trouble many in the division. Pretty good signing IMO. I say he gets Guida in his first fight.

I love Kawy. I just don't think he has a future. Beating Jacim Hansen and scoring a hard fought decision over Omigawa after a 41 fight career doesn't equal being able to beat anyone in the UFC.

ok ts, now im thinking you're trolling. every post youre talking about how much of a fan you are of kawajiri...and then go on to belittle him

just being a realist. I like Pettis, but don't think he'll defend the title more than once.

Should I celebrate now? He even used somewhat of mma math in his sig..

You want a 145er who beat thompson like 2 yrs ago to fight a retired 155. Your Matchmaking has lost its touch

Lmao, TS is definitely trolling. He can certainly beat quite a few guys, although if they give him the Akiyama treatment I could see him going winless as well.
