In ADCC 2005, oh man I felt so sorry for him when he lost in semi's after beating Ricco Rodriguez and Diego Sanchez, I felt a lump in my throat after seeing him get that far and losing.

He won his 3rd place play off but still he shown true heart, he only weighs 76KG but beat MUCH bigger men in the absolute divison.

I hope this man continues and shows that us small men can compete with the big guys, may God bless you.

I was so glad when Roger Gracie won it and to me avenged Marcelo Garcia

small men can definitely compete open weight in grappling.

but in mma it's easier to get your face smashed in and get it called a day...

btw im only 75 kg so im not like a big guy myself or anything hah

I don't think Garcia weighs 76KG. He competes in 66 - 76kg category but he was listed as like 66KG or something like that in ADCC 2005. He's alot smaller looking than all the guys in his division. He could probably compete with Royler & Bravo if he really wanted to.

Marcelo Garcia weighs 170 lb's. I know because he told me when he was at our class. He actually looks bigger in person, he has tree trunk legs. Hands down the best pound 4 pound grappler in the world.

Why are his legs so thick? Is that his natural phisique or did he train to get them that way? They are larger than CroCop's in comparison.

That's what I thought. But I'd imagine that guys around that weight move around a little. I know that I can fluctuate from 155-170 lbs in a week ...

By the way, I agree: Marcelo is P4P the greatest grappler in the world as far as I'm concerned.

His first match in the 66-76kg division was impressive with breaking Chris Brennans rib via armbar.

Garcia is a dynamo in grappling, no doubt. But, he has nothing left to accomplish in BJJ or ADCC. He needs to go to mma and destroy.

  15. Garcia under a good striking coach would be awesome to watch. One thing that makes his style good for mma is that he is always agressive, unlike Jacare or Riberio who just wait around for things.

yeah he does.. he needs to take the absolute division in the mundials and adcc... he's capable of it. I think Rogers probably the most difficult for him to beat.I think it's just a matter of time..

I doubt he'll ever beat Roger, just too big and too skilled. I'd say he's P4P the best no-gi grappler but Terrere owns him with the gi(3-0). THey didn't get to face each other the last time they were both at the mundials because Terrere entered the Super heavy division at 170 and got second to Werdum.

Yeah, the 2004 Mudials DVD is a great one to see, they have a few of Terrere's matches, and he looks so small next to the others.

Terrere had competed at his own weight at the copa beating Cassio Werneck in the finals. Then Garcia beat Cassio in the finals of the Mundials. I get the impression from Cassio that he was more impressed with Garcia, but he never said that per se.
