Ok so I don't know who you are exactly but I know several of you sherdoggers feel this way and I am calling you out. So Bigfoot and Hunt have a war where both guys get tired later on and it is one for the books and such a great fight. Shogun and Hendo have a war and both of them have horrible cardio and are so sloppy.

I understand there is a size difference but still when your taking damage each and every round as well as having back and forth scrambles your going to get tired. Shogun also got crap for his Jones fight where he was hurt immediately and Jones never let up and the first Griffin fight in which Griffin is much bigger and fought at a high pace. I am amazed that for years I have heard how crappy Shoguns cardio is yet Hunt and Bigfoot get a pass because there bigger. When you fight like Shogun Vera Forrest and Hendo you will get tired. Anyways you can't get on fighters for getting tired in absolute wars and then ok it for others.

Want to justify then go to an mma gym with someone your size and skill put on mma gloves and beat the tar out of each other for 25 minutes then I wanna see you fresh and not tired.

You need to un-bunch them, then get the sand out

Seriously though, people will say stuff.

HW's are allowed to have dookie cardio.

But it's okay. Cain Velasquez is like an angel of death punishing them for their shortcomings.

Interesting take, but none of the 4 metioned fighters have ever been known to be cardio monsters. Doesn't mean that those weren't two of the more epic fights that I will remember.

Some folks just look for any reason to try and knock other folks down. Don't look to far into it, especially when you are looking at internet responses where a couple knuckleheads can seem like a majority.

Bigfoot weighs 290lbs...
Hunt weights 270lbs and carries around a hight percentage of Body Fat...

For Shogun its never been so much that he's tired at the end of the fight (except vs. Griffin I where he was totally gassed) but that it has effected his performance very early in fights (round 1 or 2).

I think it's because people expect too much from Shogun and people also like to talk shit about him and his loyal fans.

Some people can't accept when a fighter has loyal fans, so they choose to talk shit every time they lose or if they make a mistake in a fight. If Shogun gets tired, some people will shit on him and his fans, if Hunt & Bigfoot get tired and look like they're going to die from exhaustion, it's OK.

That's Sherdog for ya. It's all favouritism, it's OK for one guy (or two in this case) but it's bad for somebody else. I get where you're coming from with this thread, you're right.

I feel like Shogun's cardio is a little underrated now. For someone who pushes a very high pace (how many LHW push a higher pace than him?) and often blocks punches with his face he always keeps coming forward and is always dangerous. Always active on the bottom with sweeps and submissions. Not saying it can't be better but it's not like the guy doesn't train hard.

Before all his knee surgeries he had one of the better gas tanks in the division.

Don't take posts on sherdog personal, many people have ignorant opinions.

He looked pretty damn tired in the 2nd Coleman fight too.

Word.

Shogun's not a cardio machine by any means, but homeboy goes to fucking war full-blast from the get. Not only does it hurt his cardio in fights, but the times he's hung back and just looked to counter, he's done so much better. He has yet to just charge into a UFC fight and ended up looking good.

Lyoto fights, he hung back. Maybe even to his detriment at 104. He hung back against Chuck. He hung back against Forrest in Rio. He hung back against Te Huna.

He charged in on Forrest, Coleman, Jones, Henderson, Vera (though started with the grappling), and Gustafsson.

It's hard to classify the Chael fight. He was moving back, but he got taken down like what? 4 seconds into the fight? Not much of a sample size.

IMO, the nature of mma makes it near impossible to not tire within 5 rds if you're competing over 170.

Dude I'm a huge shogun fan, but like bj, he gasses when there's a decent amount of grappling involved. If its a striking match, both those guys don't gas.

I give Shogun a pass in the Griffin I and Coleman II fights because of his injuries and surgeries.

Huh? He came back to win the late rds vs hendo, and got a late ko vs Vera.

While I admit he gassed quick vs jones, I'd credit that to the body elbow gnps from jones, and he did last longer than most vs jones.

I think people know this.

T.S is just trying to start an argument with trolls.

This seems to be a problem here, not that there are lots of idiot trolls, but that there is a large number of members who get there kicks from trying to engage/enrage them - which in a way is even worst. It's just trolling on a phony moral high-horse.

Definitely not disagreeing with you, but even in fights or rounds where there's not as much grappling, like the Henderson fight where Shogun looked spent at the start of the second round, his kamikaze fighting style could not help regulating his cardio.

BJ gasses from fighting in too high of a weight class and from adrenaline. I forget what fight but he was like crying walking out to a fight. When your that amped plus fighting heavy you get tired.
