I Have No Idea How Aldo-Edgar Will Go

Edgar's used to being the smaller guy, but he's also used to being the faster guy. Neither is the case against Aldo.

Aldo has never faced a good wrestler with excellent stand-up.

Edgar's extremely hard to finish, but Aldo's one of the best finishers in MMA.

Neither guy seems to have that much of an advantage over the other in any aspect of MMA. Aldo is clearly a better striker and Edgar is clearly a better wrestler, but it is unclear who can make their style effective.

Conclusion: I have no idea how anyone can be confident in the outcome of this fight.

What parts of each fighter's game can be exploited? Brighter minds, please shed some light.

 

Aldo is a nightmare matchup for Edgar. I see no aspect of the game where Edgar can take advantage.

Combine that with Edgar's tendency to get rocked and that's all the more reason to pick Aldo

 

Same here. Everyone seems so positive one way or the other. I honestly think it could go a lot of different directions. Deep down I think Aldo wins, but Frankie is probably the best fighter he's ever gone against.

I can tell you TS

-in the first round, Aldo will dominate with this standup (punches and kicks), a clear 10-9 round for him.

-in round 2, Aldo will connect with something big and hurt Edgar, who will survive as usual. Another 10-9 round, Aldo will hurt him but not enough to get a 10-8 on any card

-in round 3, Aldo will start again by mixing kicks and combos, but he wont be as crisp and fast as the first 2 rounds and Edgar, as the round goes, will begin to look better and better, landing nice combos himself and maybe even taking Aldo down by the end of the round. 2 judges are gonna score this round for a fighter, the last judge for the OTHER fighter. Cant say which though

-round 4 : Edgar is clearly the fresher fighter here, even if he was hurt in the 2nd round. He will outstrike Aldo in this round and land a td or 2, without being threatened by a sub. 10-9 Edgar on all cards

round 5 : a repeat of round 4 but maybe with not TDs. Edgar again 10-9 on all cards

result : a split D win (48-47 48-47 47-48) for either Edgar or Aldo, shitstorm follows

This is either going to be a ko for Aldo early, or Edgar will grind out a decicion. If Aldo can't ko Franky early, he's gonna have his cardio tested hard in round 3 4 5 .

Its going to be a close fight with a decision victory 3 rounds to 2 with controversy and everyone on Sherdog is going to bitch about the outcome no matter who wins.

 

Aldo will be hesitant to throw those leg kicks once Frankie catches any one of those and take him down. Frankie's hands are better than Jose's, Frankie will impose his will on Aldo until he breaks. A lot of people already comparing the outcome to the Uriah Faber fight, but Frankie is no Uriah, he ain't getting leg kicked to death. Frankie by mauling.

I think Aldo might actually be bigger than Edgar tbh (in terms of weight cutting)

I have a feeling frankie edgar is going to do what mark hominik couldn't do and finish a gassed out jose aldo. Only thing is although frankies chin is unquestionable jose aldo puts people out cold

yeah i was thinking the same thing, if frankie can check some damn leg kicks then he might be ok

 

I think Edgar will win a close decision. I think he'll get hurt early but manage to come back and steal some of the later rounds. Wouldn't be surprised if it went either way though.

well I do so I'll tell you. Round 1 or Round 2 KO flying knee to the face. after frankie will drop to 135 or get his ass kicked by Koreanzombie.
