Ok so I just moved to Cadiz Spain and there is no jiu jitsu here whatsoever. There is another blue belt and some white belts that train twice a week and thats all (im a blue belt FYI)

Down the street there is a huge judo school with about 20-30 people a class and it is taught by a 4th dan.

My plan for this year is going to be training at the judo school (5 days a week) and then going to marbella (about 2 hours away) to train at the gracie barra there atleast once a month.

Since Im a blue belt and im still very early in my training (only 2.5 years) I figure that this judo will be good for me.

I need advice on how not to forget all my jiu jitsu and is this a good plan....

thanks

WTF? Why would you forget your BJJ? No way in hell that would happen especially if youre training so often. Kind of a stupid thread question. NEXT!

I think he's asking if taking judo classes, and a monthly bjj class are enough to keep his skills sharp when no regular bbj classes are an option.

The only stupid question is the one that you don't ask. Unless it's how long it takes to get a blue belt.

Attack random people on the street.

Just act like you need directions to a restaurant, then grab their arm and pull guard.

On a serious note, you could get a grappling dummy, I've never used one, and they would probably be hard to explain to a girl, but I've heard good things about them.

you wont forget you skills, they just might become dull. i mean if you are still doing ground with with your judo some skills might not be used and will become rusty but because your still rolling they wont be completly forgoten. the best suggestion at the judo school get a student from there and become friends and roll with him/her using bjj rules so you keep up to par.

You have another blue and some whites to work with, and the judo, and an occasional trip to Gracie Barra.....sounds like you have a lot to work with in regards to your bjj. Maybe the judo school is very bjj friendly or there may even be some bjjers there as well.

maybe not much to help you really advance your bjj, but enuff to keep it sharp.

yea im figuring that i can take this time to polish my standup

im not really worried about forgeting my bjj... its just that im not going to beable to run my glorious x/cross/de la riva/half guard in my matches. Once your on the ground in judo you gotta be movin...

anyway to the dumbass who replied first...... if its a stupid thread? you made yourself look even more retarded by actually replying... Get outta here.... NEXT!!!!

During newaza randori, you spend all the time on the ground. Plenty for your gaurdwork.
