Since I attempted suicide in early December, I've been on leave from my job. My insurance through the job won't kick in until July. So my options are basically: Go back to work and pay for therapy/prescriptions/medical bills out of pocket(quite pricey and risky considering I was just hospitalized for about a month and I am still trying different medications to find what works) or quit and work elsewhere for less money so that my medical would be covered through the government.

Could join the US military. I've heard they're very good at dealing with mental health issues.

why suicide man? since we are all anonymous here you can tell us

Why won't your insurance kick in until July?

How fragile are you feeling? Because the best scenario from what I understand here is you hanging in there until July and then pursuing therapy and paying down bills from your current position. (NB Not sure how medical works in USA) Can you do some 165 days on your own?

Do you like your job? Would you be mad if you lost it?

I'm worried about going back to work and relapsing. I'm not even sure if the new medication is helping, since it takes weeks to take effect. Trying different meds until finding the right one is expensive.

I don't think you should quit your job I think you should try to bridge the gap yourself.

I'd feel guilty since I really like the people there. The job itself stressed me out to the point of breaking down crying at the end of days, so I'm not really sure I want to try it again.

@Y2Khaos had a point with how much do you like your current job - is it just a job, or are you in a career, speciality of a sort?

Because nothing is more important than your health, whether mind or body. If the former (just a job) and you haven't a wife and children, then no question about it - leave, seek balance and start anew.

Hang in there, brother.

Higher paycheque while mentally at odds with yourself is not an "alternative" of any kind, it's just a mistake. Inner peace is far more valuable than any monetary currency...within reason, without which I believe John Travolta called walking the earth and being a bum. :D

Then keep in contact with the people and get a different job.

Either way I'd try to keep working man. Being out of work i terrible for you in every possible way. If your job is really stressful, maybe it would be a good idea to get something a bit less stressful until you get everything back on rack.

Praying that your life will get better. Hang in there brother.
