So you havent even sparred?
I sparred and been in a few point karate tourneys
Well that's an excellent measure of power for sure!
What does that have to do with punching power?
Exactly my point.
Whats a better test of punching power than point karate?
So 12 000 messages just to make this troll thread.
Stand Up is mostly free of this nonsense. Please stop making these shit threads. It pollutes the forum.
That can definitely add a bit to it.
One of the things that I brought over to boxing from my years in Isshin Ryu Karate that I believe helped me in my career was the hand, wrist & forearm strength & conditioning. And years later, when discussing it with Manny Steward he told me that he employed very similar techniques in his conditioning program for his fighters because he believed that it definitely added to the effectiveness of their punches. He said that he liked to think of his fighter's weapons as being one solid piece from the elbow down to the fist like a battering ram. He wanted no give in the fist or in the hand when they landed a blow.
I also believe that it prevented me from having the sort of hand injuries that many fighters suffer from. I never once experienced any injuries to my hands other than the routine sore knuckles that come with hard training & fights.
I've been jacking off since 13, its improved my grip strength, hand dexterity, and translates over to punching power
Oh, I'll bet it has. And I'm sure it's produced far better results than point Karate ever has.
I never learned point karate, but I can say I am pretty decent in my pull out game
any recommended drills for this? I’ve got a bare knuckle boxer I’ve just started working with who will be fighting for bkfc in September and I’d love to start him on some hand/wrist conditioning and strengthening
Well, my routine involves a lot of pushups on my five fingers spread out & on my fists. punching a makiwara board, wrist rolls with 30 lb weights, squeezing hand/grip strengtheners & the use of sand ( digging, squeezing etc, ). Much like this video:
And now we know why men punch harder than women.
Rocky mentioned something about horse piss
Damn my dick got hard reading OP's post
Always appreciate the insight, especially the cross over from diff. sports. Have you had any soccer players before? How well do they transition?
my pitching power is scary. Due the same mechanics of boxing all my life, I am able to throw a baseball faster than most professional baseball players. Seriously, you dont want guys like GGG or Canelo throwing baseballs, they can throw them through brick walls.
