Was digging through my old room here at my mom's house and found my copy of RE4 for the Wii. I haven't played this game since High School and was ecstatic. I loved this game when I was younger and played the shit out of it. I was wondering how well it was gonna hold up after all these years. Holy shit, it's fucking fantastic. The awkward aiming took a bit getting used to but everything else was so fucking awesome. I love the cheesy ass dialogue, it's so iconic that I found myself remembering like 90% of the lines in the cutscenes. Monsters are fantastic, the nice variety in weapons prevents it from getting old too quickly. I love Leon, by far my favorite RE character besides Jill. The replay value though is its biggest factor IMO. I beat the normal campaign, got 5 stars with all characters in the mercenaries and beat Separate ways. Then I beat professional mode and now I'm playing through it again with all the infinite weapons unlocked. I haven't gotten bored yet and I find that amazing for a single player story game with no multiplayer aspect whatsoever. Anyone else love the shit out of this game as much as I do?
Kyle was entertaining, getting rid of him was a dumb idea. Canarchy was back like 2 days later so no he didn't get rid of him.
Some choke points(defending that house. Fuck me, that goes on forever), and the escort aspect of the game are irritating, but other than that it holds up rather well.
One of the best games I have ever played. Between the Gamecube and PC versions I think I've played through the game like 4-6 times and I remember saving in front of my favorite bosses with $2 million so I could replay them with any weapon set I wanted to. Now that you've reminded me I might buy this game for the PC through steam. I never did get 5 stars with everyone on mercenaries. I got close with the last time I played it but the computer I was playing on went kaputz before I could :icon_sad: Who are your favorite bosses? I love Salazar's right hand man and Krauser the most because of all the dodging they require. There were times where I would see Krauser waiting for me around the corner and instead of shooting him I'd walk right into the interactive cut scene because I had so much fun with those.
I had the game for the GC, PS2 and Wii. Only game I'v3 bought 3 times haha. I love Krauser as well, interesting character and he has that big brother feel with Leon. I like how he would compliment you when you beat him in the QTE. He's also fun af to play with in the mercs, just wrecking Giant Dr. Salvador with his arm like it ain't shit. My favorite is probably Salazar though, not the actual fight, but his character. He's funny and really likable.
I get you on Salazar, he's a fun little guy to chase around. I like him and Chief Mendes as villains more than Saddler really.
Top 10 game of all time. If RE went in the same direction as this game, the series would still have alot more respect than it does now.
And oddly enough, even the controls for RE4 are terribly outdated. Bad controls are it's thing. Seriously, I can't think of another franchise that revolutionized controls for a third person shooter, only for them to be improved upon in such short order, that the sequel's controls(which were exactly the same as RE4) were bitched about for being terrible.
