He has to face Jones again(#1 P4P in the World), which is going to be tough as hell.

If he wins, he will have to give Jones a rematch because of Jones long title run.
If he wins that third fight as well by some miracle, he will have to face the mothafucking terminator that is Daniel Cormier.

Brutal.

He shouldn't have to give Jones a rematch, Gus didn't get one and just because a champ has a long run doesn't mean he gets in immediate rematch. He should have to work his way back like everyone else

LHW is a shark tank at the top. Jones, Gus, DC, Glover, Rumble, Rashad, Davis, etc are all tough guys. No champ is gonna have an easy run.

If the UFC was more of a sport and less entertainment, your shoulds and shouldn'ts would be correct.

However, it's entertainment (read: money) first, any semblance of sport legitimacy second.

Should Gus get the W, I am sure Jones will get an instant-rematch.

You feel bad for him...yet he makes more money than you. Smashes more hoes than you. Drives a nicer car than you. Smokes better weed than you. And you feel sorry for him lol ya ok...

same can be said for jones

You defend a belt 7 times then you're getting a rematch as you should and as DC suggested is right. Not to mention that the rematch is ultimately a rubber match.

Such is proper.

Feel bad for anyone not named Cormier in that division.

I agree with TS in that right now, Cormier looks like the Terminator, and even Jones' eye pokes won't be enough to stop him.

I feel happy for him might as well be champ or coming back home with a big bag of money.

Couldn't agree more.

Even Cormier said at the post fight press conf. that Jones deserves a rematch if he loses. Jones is going to get that rematch if he loses.

It's a great weight division right now....all 3 guys have great tools. I give Jones the edge and would say he wins 2 out of 3 fights against either Cormy or Gusty.

God, MMA is funny. Within the space of three years, LHW has gone from being perceived as a shark tank to a dead division to a shark tank again.

If Gus wins there shouldn't be an immediate rematch unless it's a very controversial decision (which is very unlikely to go Gus's way).

They just fought a very close fight already that Gustafsson arguably won.

The top fighters a few years ago are largely gone. Shogun is battered. Hendo is old and off TRT. Machida dropped to MW. Rampage is out and fights at Bellator. Couture is retired. Etc. The only one still left is Rashad and he's possibly not even top 5.

There are a fresh crop of young and very skilled fighters in the division now, plus a proven commodity in DC dropped down to the division.

So don't even try that bullshit. Just like people saying MW wasn't weak Silva just cleared it and people's impressions changed when Silva lost. No. It fucking was weak, now there's a lot of fresh fighters in the division, and fighters that have come into their own such as Rockhold and Jacare. It's stacked now, 2 years ago it was not, and that's the truth, not "shertard logic."

unless it's a really close fight I doubt Jones will get an immediate rematch. Maybe if he didn't show up Dana by refusing the Chael fight he would have because at that point he was Dana's golden boy but since then Dana's acted totally different about Jones.

you shouldn't feel bad, gus welcomes the challenge
