I dont understand why is he trying right now making any negotiations while still got fight left to fulfil.

I know he been involved in one of the greatest MMA fights but I dont think there is a need to press UFC by giving media statements that he is willing to test free agent. Actions like this will only put him in a bad spot with Dana and others in the company.

As a UFC, I think it would be fair to just wait for the Thompson outcome and then make decisions. If he wants 6 digits on his contract and fight will end in his favour, I would definitely agree on the pay rise for him.

In the other hand Dana deserves a punch or 2 for not compensating the guy accordingly after war he endured with Lawler. He earned $40k on that night + FON. But he should get at least extra 500k for that and from what I read in the interviews, he didnt get anything.

I think the UFC is going to be at a crossroads soon. They aren't paying proportionately to their profit. Obviously this is all my speculative opinion. They reported like $600m in profit last year and they're paying everyone not named Conor McGregor peanuts.

People will leave. Benson Henderson was big, Matt Mitrone is a big time HW and he's out. I think there's an exodus on the horizon fellas.

Rory has one of those weird personalities he is a great fighter but all the other crap it takes to get a casual following he sucks at so The UFC is probably not offering him the moon to stay. Bellator is the only promotion that possibly compete with his UFC pay but probably could not fight him once or twice a year so I am not sure what he is trying to pull but the UFC is to smart to fall for his or anybody else crap

I'm guessing you have an amazing retirement plan and great credit score(insert sarcasm here)... You don't quit your job before you look for a higher paying one... Economics 101, breh...

He has a kid on the way so that probably played into it as well.

You may not understand Rory, but I don't understand your English.

I cant believe he's not already making 6 digits. I guess UFC gonna UFC.

Rory wants better pay than he is currently getting, and knows that Bellator is willing to pay right now for some UFC fighters with names, such as Bendo and Meathead. He's done the right thing airing this now, it gives Bellator time to think whether they want him and table whatever they are willing to offer and the UFC a chance to see that he isn't loyal to a fault and loosen their purse strings.

Why would Rory wait until he is off contract and then get caught up in negotiations, possibly delaying his chance to fight again? He can lay the groundwork now.

Exactly. The guy is champion material in a stacked division. Had one of the greatest fights ever and nearly became the champion in that fight. Yet dumbass UFC is arguing with him about his worth and wanting to pay him 50k?

Because the UFC is making him offers already that suck. So if the UFC wants to lock him down now they better do it fast he is saying.

UFC is owned and operated by greedy people. But what are u gonna do about it? It's their business. If they want to be greedy. They can be. If the other organizations will pay Rory more. Them he should go to those places. If you believe in trickle down economics UFC has created a bunch of millionaires over the years. Sure the numbers aren't fair. But do you really think the fighters are going to tolerate being bent over a barrel forever? If they unionize. They can definitely get better pay. Especially if they have to open their books to the fighters. No one is trying to force the owners out of the business. If the owners made 55 percent of the profits and the fighter made 45 percent. I'd be cool with it. Even 60 for the owners and 40 for the fighters. But as it is right now. Only 15 percent or so goes to the fighters. :/

Rory has always said he wants higher pay and he deserves it. Bendo better hope that Ro-mac stays at the UFC otherwise he'll lose his Bellator belt in his first defence.

Both of them are pretty irrelevant when it comes to the top 10 of their divisions.

Are they paying him enough because he is a hard fight for anyone? McGregor wouldn't even think about stepping in the ring with Rory. Not that i am a great Rory fan.

UFC business model is what's wrong with sport. That's what a monopoly will do to the market.

Shileds, Phil davis, Benson, Josh Thompson,Rampage, Mat mittrione

i think the ufc's ego is as big as mcgregors. But there is a reason the ufc Kept nate diaz. A while back nate tweeted he would like to be cut so he could go to bellator. This was during that "nate dosnt move the needle" talk dana was spewing.

Then as soon as he beats conor dana had to say at the post fight presser "Nate has always moved the needle". They also kind of ate crow when they tryed to resign Rampage.

they will try to keep rory no matter how "cool: they try to play it

Rory could start a good thing.Come to another place where fighting is more important than the smacktalk

rory gets 50 to show and 50 to win. plus that fat reebok money.

If he sign to fight for 30-30 or 40-40 at bellator im sure he could rake in some sponser money and make more. of coarse i dont know what sponsers he may have had but if hes on free TV eyes will be on him.

Or he dosnt have shit for sponsers and is fucked....i dont really know

I hope you're right. I'm not a UFC fan, I'm an MMA fan. I watch fighters regardless of the company they work for and it's long overdue that these guys get more of a share in the profits.
