I don't think people understand how truly amazing DC was

I just found out that DC didn't start his professional MMA career until he was 30 years old. He had his first MMA fight in Sept 2009, 6 months past his 30th birthday. And a little more than 2 years later he tossed Josh Barnett through the air like a child to win the SF grand prix. Barnett was a 14 year veteran at the time with 35 fights under his belt and riding an 8 fight win streak. People call BJ Penn the prodigy but DC is MMAs true prodigy. Could you imagine how good this MFer could have been if he started at age 25!?!?
The dude is not normal. The fact that he became a 2 division champion after starting at an age when athlete start to slowly decline is an underappreciated fact.

All I'm saying is that people don't really give DC the props he deserves. And part of the reason is that they don't see his career from the proper perspective.

He's a douchebag and a major ufc schill but that's to be expected bc he's employed by them but he takes it to a whole new level also he didn't walk off the streets and start fighting he was a amazing amateur wrestler.
That being said he was and is an amazing fighter.

His was extremely good, a generational talent IMO that achieved many many things but his shillnes is ruining his image with hardcores, I mean talking shit about Fedor? People won't forgive that one easily.

TLDR: he gets as much respect as a runner up should and could.

details:
1) was never the best HW
2) was never the best LHW
3) failed at the Olympics
4) wasn’t best hw or fighter at his gym
5) not the best play by play man
6) not the best overall shill or hype man either
7) lost over and over to same guy in college too and obviously wasn’t the best wrestler either

If not for his friendship with Cain he never fights Jones or at LHW & is likely the HW goat

+ DC v Cain would've been sick

too bad we'll never know

Something about seeing it from the proper perspective.
DC became better than Fedor in a matter of months after starting MMA in his 30s as a broken down retired wrestler.

How could he Respect him? I doubt Jon Jones respects Shogun Rua.

This is insanely disrespectful

In MMA not starting your career at 30 isn't as big as an obstacle as it sounds especially at HW especially since DC was thrown into the top of Strikeforce off of his rep as an Olympic wrestler. At HW fighting into your 40s is the expectation.

Glover got to the UFC in his early 30s, he retires with like 16 wins tied for 2nd most in his divisions history.

30 is not old in MMA. 20s means you're a prospect.

I like Daniel, he is a good guy...he has said and done some questionable things over time but I cant judge him too harshly for it.

I don't think it's just shilling.

DC is just a different level of competitive as well. He's also an all time great at HW, I could see it being hard for him to admit and put someone over him.

Both him and Cain are some of the best heavyweights to ever live. Perhaps he just feels they were better.

Can't really blame him for thinking that.

He just should have chosen his words better.

His resume isn't good. His best win for awhile was Josh Barnett. Right until the miocic KO

Barnett is a good win but Nog and cro cop beat him too.

When I was starting to get more acquainted with the MMA scene, I watched this random guy in what then was Strikeforce and thought to myself "this fatso will get murked", but instantly realized I might be wrong, only to confirm how special he was in the following fights, quickly making me a fan.

Overall, and given his physical limitations (just compare to a guy like Rockhold/Adesanya), I can't help but think he was indeed a bit of a prodigy.

He was HW champion and LHW champion so how was he not the best? Trying a little too hard here.
