Dude was such a badass beast and prior to the Joe loss, he was on a win streak but took Lauzon lightly because he didn't look athletic enough. After that, there was losses with Cerrone and Miller but he came back and KO'd Danzig and beat Pearson which was no contest which is fine fair enough.

But his next fight was Michael Johnson and he lost a decision only and then he got cut!!??

Why did he get cut?

Did ya hear they landed a man on the moon?

He's more than had enough chances. He was held to a higher standard. He didn't perform.

he was 2-5-1 over that stretch, and since getting cut, he's been 1-7-1 so it's pretty clear he's on the downside

Shame really. Fun guy to watch. Lauzon and Miller ruined him

I thought he was in title contention at one point. Then he started going nowhere fast.

Now he's getting finished by dudes who don't even have wiki pages.

That was hilarious when he was crying after Lauzon whipped his ass and broke his winning streak. He thought he was king of the UFC during that run. Was nice to see his cocky ass get humbled.

I have a feeling we are going to see TS make this same thread in about ten years, asking if anybody knows why the UFC opted to cut ties with Platinum Mike back in the days...?

You left out the Varner loss.

Because he was a greasing coke-head who lost every single time he stepped up in competition.

Dude is 1-7-1 since getting cut from the UFC. He can't cut it outside of the UFC - why do you think he can inside the UFC?

Melvin has always been overrated.

He says that he was really depressed about the cut and now he seems to be fighting for paycheck. If you notice, he looks really fat:

If someone didn't understand at the time you would think surely they understand now right?

UFC should of kept Melvin. What a beast he became while being cut outside the UFC. upload_2018-2-26_13-55-55.png

This is why black belts shouldn’t be allowed to start threads.

I remember he was the champ by the time I got to a title shot when I played a career on ufc undisputed 3.

The hype was real

that's part of it too , he's mentally unstable and struggles with substance abuse. He had great tools with his athleticism and power, but he never had the discipline to put those attributes together. that's why he never became a champion and couldn't maintain his top contender status
