Great fight that should have happened years ago but I don’t get the logic behind people seeing Tony winning. I don’t think he stops the takedowns at all and will just look like another typical Khabib victory. People who are picking Ferguson, what are his routes of winning other than something unexpected?
He won’t stop the takedowns but he fights off his back much better than everyone else khabib has fought and won’t go back whimpering to his corner after getting mauled for a round
Well, some people expect Tony to do something from his back - i've heard people say he's super dangerous from there and i've heard others say that he's not as dangerous from there as some make it out to be. Personally i really don't know how dangerous he's from there exactly, but considering what an instinctive and slick guy Ferguson is, his submission skills might come in handy in this fight.
Khabib beat cans in Dagestan MMA and Sambo that were more accomplished and skilled off their back than Ferguson. He is an amateur in comparison to Khabib.
Not sure anyone at LW can consistently stop the takedown. I think people are banking on tony being literally crazy af and too stupid to get discouraged and highly likely to throw crazy sub attempts off his back. We saw poirier get in pretty deep, gives ferg a good chance to atleast threaten a few subs. Interesting part is IF tony manages to get khabib weary of the sub attempts will the fight stay standing and make khabib adjust. These guys are easily the 12 best LW's in the world that's what makes this fight so intriguing.
-Threatening the d'arce. -forward pressure backing him against the cage just makes the fight look a little bit different. I'll root for Tony but pick khabib
Like who in Dagestan? What guys were better off their back then than Tony is now? Or had his cardio or ability to open cuts with a small amount of space? LMAO that some scrub he beat in a Sambo match 12 years ago is Tony's level. Trolls don't really try anymore huh?
Edgy said the same thing, so we have to assume he'll work from his back and get subs or elbow khabib.
Those guys have been wrestling and grappling since they were kids while Tony was getting choked out by a guy named Jamie Toney
He won't, and I'm sure he knows that. His best bet is to take as little damage as possible and wear Khabib out during the first couple of rounds, and then turn it up. Khabib takes at least one round off in a 5-rounder, and Tony is probably counting on it.
