I Dislike / I Like...

I like:
-farts during rolling, always comedy

I dislike:
-being injured, and the accompanying time off the mat :(

I like:
-when tapping to someone (higher belts), they are willing to take the time to help me understand what I'm doing wrong or help me improve my defense, technique.
-beating people heavier than me (who doesn't?!)

I dislike:
-Stinky bastards
-Guys that outweigh me by 50lbs rolling with me like I'm 50lbs heavier than them

Dislike: Guys who have mentally given up before we even roll, or even make jokes like, "Hope I last a minute" or some shit.

During my first week of class, which was like two weeks ago, a blue belt had me in some really bad position and I just said really calmly, "damn this is unfortunate." and he lost it then got me with an armbar. I'm getting pretty decent at noticing when im kinda fucked I just don't know exactly what to do about it yet, but i'll get there. I really dislike when this older blue belt at our gym cranked the shit out of a gi choke on my second night when it was obvious that I had no idea what the hell was going on a simple execution of technique would have been fine trying to kill me for no apparent reason doesn't really do me much good.

I dislike the "damn you're strong" argument too. In judo it usually comes from someone who knows nothing about grip fighting - if you let me get my favorite grip of course I'm going to feel strong, because it means I've got your posture completely broken. In general grappling it usually comes from someone who flips around on their hips without doing anything about my posture ... again, if you let me sit up with good posture you're not going to sweep me, and its going to be relatively effortless for me to get past your guard or GnP you.

I like working with guys with excellent basics - sloppy technique goes nowhere with them, forces me to become more technical.

thought it would be interesting to see some of your responses, for pure entertainment.

I Dislike:

When you tap someone and they just have to say, "Damn, your strong" or "You're a strong little fucker."

Sadly, I'm not that strong. In fact, you'd be surprised how little strength I'm actually using. Could it be... that you're just not as good as you thought you were?

I say that sometimes. Because if someone overpowers me they are strong as fuck, especially if they are around my weight.

I also tap to neck cranks and dominant position. If some secures mount or something and I can't get out of it after the first minute or so, I tap. Kind od like laying your king down in chess. Conceding that it is only a matter of time until they win. Why waste the next 3-4 minutes struggling? That said if I don't finish someone from the mount in under a minute, I let them (or force them) to roll me, so I can start over.

I dislike:
Wrestling matches on the knees. You want to wrestle lets stand up, if you want to roll lets roll.

Dumb as hell. That's an opportunity to work escapes.

I like

being asked to roll by higher belts....bc I know that it means that Im not a total fish and I can at least hold my own....even though I NEVER win! And it is also the best way to become good fast!

I dislike;

People who try their hardest get the takedown from the knees. I just sit back 98% of the time and let they guy have top position....rolling from the knees for more than 10 seconds is pointless....you will hardly ever find yourself in that position!

Knee wrestling is very common amongst the white belts! Atleast they are good at something.

I agree with disliking denial:
Your strong!!
Your heavy!!1
I suck and you are so much better than me, I will never be able to tap you!! (Actually, this would be the right thing for them to say)
Like:
I like going against people who are a lot better than me, then going agaisnt people who are on my level to practice what I learned from those better than me
and
Owning spazzers

If someone asks how much you weighed immediately after tapping out, it can be interpreted as "you weigh more than me, that's the reason for the tap."

Exactly- good point. I weigh a lot but am actually not that strong (I'm 6'6" tall) There are a couple of guys who ALWAYS ask how much I weigh if I sub or control them. Basically- insinuating that weight is the only reason I got them. They don't seem to consider I outworked them, used good technique and caught them. Funny how the higher belts never seem to need to ask me how much I weigh...

likes:

-using my sweaty man-tits to suffocate little guys

- using my 50 pound weight adanvantage to maul smaller trainnig partners (bonus to smother with man-tits) and whe they ask how much i weigh, i say "like 140 to 145"

- tooling noobs

-putting opponent in the "stink tent". this is a technique where i dont wash my gi, then use any means to trap my opponents head in the fabric

- using my toenails to get off my back

dislikes:

-fat guys who try to smother me with thier sweaty meat balloons

-people who try to work slow and work technique- we're supposed to be rolling! time to go all out

I dislike:
-getting hit in the balls
-whitebelts
-whitebelts that think they know something I don't and try and teach me it
-people cranking on my jaw/cheek/nose when they are going for a choke
-fat people who just lay on top of me and then when I get to a better position, "call it a day"
-people with egos--> I tap them and they won't leave me alone/let it go until they tap me back
-people who continue to crank on the submission even though I tapped a long time ago
-long nails that scratch
-people who put their feet in my belt (usually the back of my belt)

6'6 doesn't need to be strong, the leverage factor is too immense.

i like: tapping people

i dislike: getting tapped

wait...is this sport for me??

I like:

trying something ridiculous and having it work.

I dislike:

Sweaty guys dripping sweat into my mouth/eye/face.

This. x10. It's so damned yargh sometimes when someone's dropping like some Chinese Water Torture bullshit all over your face.

I like:

Getting the 'new move' that you've never been able to snag before.

Having 'armlegs'.

Being complimented on a crazy guard/feet-out-of-nowhere due to armlegs.

Anytime I can 'sweep' someone that knows what they're doing.

Asking people how much they weigh before/after a roll so I can learn how much of a difference I can expect in the future (e.g. - I now know how much different a 220 lbs grappler is than a 240 lbs. I can identify by body-type and maybe make some adjustments to the gameplan)

I DISLIKE:
Getting injured because someone cranked a technique from the start instead of applying pressure.

Blanket fighters.

Unwashed Stink.

I like:

Beating people who are bigger then me
Going against those who are better then me, even if I know i'll lose
Working new technique

I dislike:

Injuries
Spazzes
People who only rely on teh muscles.
