UFC really did a good job spinning him like a dominant/unbeatable champion at the time of his reign. Matt is HOF, but he should never be in the same discussion as GSP. He should have at least avenged his loss to Dennis Hallman, who he lost two twice in the first round by submission.

and anderson lost to a lw can and conor lost to a flyweight lookin can.

Most fighters have some bad losses, doesn't mean much though. MMA is the most challenging combat sport. Hughes still is the #2 ww of all time and was dominate as hell. Not on the level of gsp, fedor, andy, but still a very good fighter

    I don't need to.
Judges fuck up decisions all the time.
It's telling when a fighter on a streak wins a gift decision and bails from the sport.
He left because he couldn't hack it against a guy who is cannon fodder these days.
Besides, I remember a certain GSP losing to Matt Hughes in their prime (Hughes).... you might want to look it up.

Yeah lets all crap on a guy for a loss he had in Feb 2001 and ignore the 19-1 (12-1 in UFC) run he went on from then until GSP 2 in 2006 with that one loss being to BJ Penn.

Fighters evolve. I am a huge GSP fan but his loss to Serra was way worse then any of those.

But GSP came back and is one of the GOATS, Hughes is too. Its about how you bounce back.

Been closely following MMA since 2003 and I don't think I've seen this added to his record till few years ago. I only remember his two previous losses being to Hallman and his documentary totally omitted his loss to Pele.

Wait. So you're saying GSP's 1 fluke loss to Serra is worse than Hughes' loss to the same person who wasn't good enough to be in the UFC by 1st round sumbission. Twice! Seriously? And he never EVER asked to avenge it? How the f do you figure that?

You obviously didn't look at it correctly, look again, GSP had two losses (Hughes & Serra) he avenged both.

Came into thread thinking it was going to be a positive Pele thread. Began to read OP and quickly realized it was a negative Hughes thread.

Matt Serra should have never been given a title shot from that TUF show. But in a rematch, the obvious did happen.
