I'm just rewarding all the old pride events and I just noticed how horrible bad rutten is at commentating.

"He should do this .." "He should do that.."And "I told you" is all this guy is saying. He also makes a ton of stupid mistakes like what I just saw saying he can't wait for igor vovchancin to fight igor vovchancin and stupid stuff like that ..

Yeah he sucks now. Not sure how closely he follows the sport anymore, that's why I cringe everytime somebody suggests him as a UFC color guy

He didnt seem that bad in pride, but he is absolutely terrible on WSOF. I say this as a Bas fan, i like him on inside mma.

sorry, but you are a hater.
Bas is the man, and continues to be.

I would LOVE for him to commentate along with Rogan.

but I guess you think Goldie is better...

Agreed, I also liked Bas and Quadros as a combo.

No idea what Pride were thinking with Renallo, I know he did well with his demons but it was like watching an accountant commentate

It was a different era. Bas didn't try out or practice being a commentator. He says he got the gig because he'd be watching the fights in the back and he'd just be talking about what was happening and what he knows/thinks and they were like "heh, you're kind of good at this" and he has the personality so they went with it.

He's got some wacky views and has gotten worse over the years but I thought he was great in pride if not just for his personality. Does he still say the jab doesn't work in mma? I love the guy tho.

He's never said anything as bad as "Ronda Rousey can beat half the men at BW", so there is that.

Bas has one of the highest levels of midichlorians, exceeding the few that this child of a thread starter has. He will bow down if he knows what is good for him.

Bas is great, but yeah as far as colour commentary analysts go, Rogan, Stann, and even Hardy have him beat.
Let's get Chael in there though!

I consider Bas the godfather of MMA, prefer him over Rogan and Golberg.

To be fair, that was a different era of MMA.

Bas was evolved, many were not.

If you took today's Joe Rogan and sent him back 10 years to do commentary, he'd probably be giving plenty of critiques as well.
