Funny that all the posters that have a good grasp of MMA and the history of the sport say the same thing. Fedor is without even a debate clear GOAT. Then you have the ones that kind of know a bit but started watching only the UFC and say Gsp or Silva. Uhm. No? Are you saying that Fedor was ripped and did not have any mass to lose with proper dieting? Fedor was thick yes but if he lost the fat around his waist he’d be around 200 and could have cut to MW. Thinking otherwise must mean you are completely blind - just look at him and you can see he is carrying around a lot of fat.

As are most MW without cutting, and let's not act as if dieting down then cutting 25lbs = "natural MW".
People are debating the fact that he has the frame of the average current MW or even some WW ( bigger ones, and I'm talking about bone frame ) which is close to the truth.

No one said he weighed in at MW, but seeing his frame he definitely could have made it when he was younger if he cared or wanted to diet down and cut weight.
But why should he in the first place ? HW is the most prestigious division, he chose to fight where it's at.
Same with CroCop who could easily have fought at 205 in the early stages of his career ( and maybe even in the UFC ) but chose to hang with the big boys...

The UFC HW division at that time was the weakest in history. Gan McGee, Paul Buentello, Justin Eilers, Cabbage, Tank Abbot, and a couple of decent guys who both got sparked by Fedor....

He definitely had a good deal more muscle mass in his RINGS and early Pride days, started to loose it after he moved to Red Devil and didn't do much weight work, perhaps deliberately so to maximise his speed standing when facing Mirko.

Alot of retards will pretend he is a natural HW but this is a guy that has a smaller reach/height than Jones + Silva.

He has the same reach as GSP and is only marginally longer than Conor (a natural BW)...Anyone that claims he is "thick and strong as fuck" is retarded and hasn't trained a day in their lives. Prime Fedor was 30% BF he could have easily fought optimally at a lower weight.

A small hw but a hw nontheless. He certainly could have gone down to lhw,but to say he would have been optimal there,who knows. Meh. Fedor is GOAT, but I don't buy some of the narratives about how tiny he was. He definitely wasn't a large HW and probably could've made weight at 185 if he really wanted to, but there isn't any reason to think that he would've performed better at those lower weights.

He was similar in build to DC. I think they're both evidence that being as light as you possibly can isn't always the best thing.

There are many other examples as well. Dan Henderson performed better at 205 than 185. Whittaker is better after moving up. Rumble was better after moving up. It looks like Till might be better at MW. There are many more examples. We all know that.
