I agree with rogan! HW division is lucky that Lebron James never tried MMA.

In boxing you just going to train a few techniques around hand attacks. In MMA you have to train boxing techniques, wrestling techniques, BJJ techniques, kicking, kneeing, elbowing and learning how to do deal with all kinds of weird stuff like spinning attacks. It's much more complex.

Codys style is literally 90% boxing: basic TDD, boxing footwork and counters.

Being "good" / mediocre and bad in many things is not hard.

Most of the time they only learn a single aspect of combat sports (TDD): You make MMA more complicated than it really is.

Being merely a tough guy can take you pretty far in MMA.

MMA fans never evolve lol

You can teach technique, but not athleticism.

JDS trained 1 year boxing, few months BJJ and KOd Werdum.

More like 5+ years of boxing.

If he fought MMA in japan he'd get yellowed carded for flopping all the time.

Didn’t Brock Lesnar teach us that the stereotype ultra-male means nothing if you cannot handle an onslaught of punches to the face? LeBron could crumple from a single shot to the dome for all we know.

op with another shit thread, trying to shit on a sport he has thousands of posts dedicated to......

lmao pathetic.

god, how this retard hasnt been banned yet is a mystery.

one or two examples dont make the exception. mma is far more complex and complicated than boxing.

I think you just look at the parts that MMA fighters look weak in an area against other fighters that are stronger in those areas and then you think they're just going with one art but that's not the case. It's like watching condit vs Maia and then thinking that condit is a bum on the ground. No, it's just that Maia is a wizard when it comes to BJJ
Look at Conor (who makes you think of only striking) sparring with a pure boxer

His first combat sport was BJJ (he was 21).

JDS KOd Werdum two years later.

do the math babe :)

Lets see. He has 3 years of just MMA before the Werdum fight. 2006,07,08. How is that two years? Was already boxing before MMA. Had his first pro boxing debut 1 year before he entered MMA. Thats 4 years right there. Then how long did he train boxing before his pro debut?

Still only 18 and built like a tank.

MMA has never had a guy like him.

Give Struve a jab = dangerous as fuck. give him lebrons athleticism = GOAT.

Lebron moves like a 100 pounds guy + his coordination (one of the most important element of athleticism) is elite level.

give Struve a jab and he becomes Semmy Schilt, a guy who might be a GOAT in kickboxing, but was nothing more than another guy in MMA.

people act like MMA is kickboxing, it's not, being that huge and tall isn't necessarily an advantage.

you ever see Kharitonov basically sit on Schilt's arm while he beat the fuck out of him? Schilt could do nothing but make noises like a dying moose because he was so huge that he couldn't get the correct leverage to get Kharitonov off of him. a guy who was much smaller than Schilt would be impossible to put into that position.

Yeah bounce a ball and jump or some shit see how well that translates into getting your head smashed.

Non contact sport vs full contact sport, I wonder....

we are lucky ... his child had a medical condition and he needed money fast otherwhise we would have lost one of the hardest hitter in the history of combat sports.
Lol Tyson threw set up body shots into decapitating uppercuts harder than anything Wilder will throw in his life

Julian Jackson was 60 pounds lighter and hit every bit as hard with better technique

Ya ever heard of Earnie Shavers?

All I can say is this, imagine Jon Jones had the athleticism to dunk a basketball on an NBA level rim. Such an athlete would be even closer to unstoppable.

Basketball players are actually a good pool for MMA talent. Why? Basketball is an endurance sport. The athletes are literally running suicides for 30 minutes. The duration of a championship fight.
This. Aside from hockey players I think theyd have the best transition to be honest . Some guys play 40 + minutes a game. Running jumping sprinting pushing boxing out. Lots of head movement and hand eye coordination neccessary . Obviously , if they cant take a punch that means fuck all

Ummm no. He might be big and very athletic but he’s as soft as a roll of Charmin Ultra soft.
