I’ve always been a fan but Beneil Dariush is one of the most over ranked fighters right now

Beneil is on a nice 7 win streak which is always impressive especially at Lightweight. However his last win and best win is ghost of Tony Ferguson 15 months ago. He never put Tony in any danger, kind of just controlled him for 15 minutes. Has other solid wins like Dober and Moises but nearly lost to CDF. He’s already been KO’d by Barboza and Hernandez before this win streak and I don’t feel that he has changed much as a fighter since then.

I like Beneil but I think he is too old and slow at this point to get any further in the rankings. I expect Gamrot to TKO him or 30-27 him in a standup only fight, because Beneil will not be able to take him down.

I agree. Anyone on a 7-fight win streak in a tough division should be released from the UFC immediately. Let him go to Bellator where long win streaks are more common, he doesn't belong here. At the very least he should be dropped 5 to 10 spots in the rankings to make sure he's not overrated, and thereafter dropped 1 or 2 spots for each additional fight he wins.

Let's put an end to this "win streak = fighter is good" bullshit, clearly the opposite is true.

Old? He still is 33 lol. But, yeah, I don't see him winning against Gamrot by no means. Neither against Tsarukyan, who was robbed against Gamrot and should be fighting Dariush instead.

Definitely wasn't robbed. Razor thin fight that could have gone either way.

Gamrot outgrappled Tsark face it. He won that fight.

He has been around and solid for a long time he just strikes me as someone who isn't super marketable due to lack of personality or something. Never really broke into the top of the division but has fought a lot of tough competition, just not elite competition yet. Probably loses his next fight, but I am not counting him out.

I think he’s earned his ranking, but I don’t think he’s one of the top 5 fighters in the division. He’s just been fortunate enough to get 7 victories and keep moving up in the rankings. I don’t forget that he was close to getting finished a couple of fights ago that would have killed that streak. I see nothing in his game that suggests that he’ll beat Charles or Islam. I don’t even think he’d beat Dustin or even RDA.

With all due respect, this is an example of someone talking about something that he or she knows nothing about .... and opinions that are kind of baseless. Hes at that age where he has put everything together. His inactivity is the only thing I'd be worried about.
He now is as a complete fighter as he can be . As a " brown belt", has placed in some of thee most prestigious bjj tournaments like the Mundials.

At worst , hes the #3 lightweight in world. He beats gaejthe rather easily and Chandler would be like giving him a mulligan.

He either gets winner of charlo-mak or a fight with Dustin would speak volumes.

Beneil has earned his rank and if I'm not mistaken Diego Ferreira was ranked in the top 10 when Beneil fought him as was Ferguson? Some winning streaks don't age well and Beneil tried to fight everyone...Charles, Poirier, Gaethje, Chandler, he was even down to fight Islam for one reason or another it just never worked out for him. He was one of few men willing to step up vs Gamrot as well.

Do I think Beneil is weaker than his rank? Sure maybe, but that's true of a lot of guys. Even last weekend Leon Edwards resume in terms of activity and quality wins was horrible. Beneil is a bit chinny, most of his losses are fights he should have won but got caught in. He's a tough dude though, real smart and dangerous everywhere. We haven't gotten to see his guard on display much in MMA but it was wicked, expect a crazy fight vs Gamrot.

with fans like you who needs enemies?
