If the big plan is a fight between GSP VS Silva, do you put this as the Main Event event though that card will probably have 2 title fight, wouldn't that be a little disrespectful for the champion (s) who will be fighting on that card? Has there been a card with a title fight, where the title fight wasn't the main event?

They have broken the old precedents by making Conor the main event over Robbie, even though he was the lighter weight class. Robbie seemed to take it in stride.

That aside, they might have to make it the main event to have it be a five-rounder. I don't know.

Anyway, I can't remember a non-title fight main eventing over a title fight before. I don't think it has happened.

They often have a non-title fight as the main event on TUF finales over the TUF championship match. That's the best I can think of.

That would never happen, they can't fit 3 25 minute fights on a PPV, there's no way Silva vs. GSP headlines UFC 200.

the ufc being a little disrespectful? nope would never happen ever in history mate

Edit :
UFC 48 Mir VS Sylvia was not the main or Co-main
Shamrock Vs Leopoldo was the main event -_-'

God Royce Gracie looks old...

They can extend the window. There was a card not long ago that had 7 fights on ppv.

If GSP vs Silva is not a main event this world isn't real.

Shamrock/Kimo headlined over Sylvia/Mir, Ortiz/Cote headlined over Hughes/GSP I, and Ortiz/Belfort headlined over Arlovski/Sylvia I.

I think they're the only examples of non-title fights being main events above title fights. They were all in a different era, but it does show that the precedent is there and that they could do it.

Though I don't know that they'd have to make it main event to make it 5 rounds. There might be a way they can make a request with the commission to have it be 5 rounds.

And anyway, is Silva/GSP bigger than McGregor/Lawler? I'm not sure anymore

GSP vs Andersen isn't as big as it once was. It wouldn't main event over a title fight.

Sharp memories, guys.

Mr Silva has rather taken the shine off that fight given recent events. I'd take GSP vs Lawler for the belt over Anderson.
