Just hipster mentality. They're "above" anything popular in the mainstream, and only like "obscure" fighters. Until they become popular too and then they'll hate them aswell. What exactly do people consider a "hype train"? Conor is the FW champ with a win over one of the greatest fighters ever. Jones may be the greatest fighter ever. Jones and Conor are not "hype", they are proven, especially Jones. Page and Sage were "hype trains" not the FW champ and LHW (basically) champ

I can't speak for anyone else but for me 'hype train" means the portrayal of a fighter as literally superhuman, with the implication that they have godlike powers that make it literally impossible for them to lose to anyone ever as well as enabling them to be the most popular living beings in the history of humankind. No person's EVER been that great, and none ever will.

And no one seriously thinks Conor or Jones are like that.
jones doesnt have a hype train
he has 8 title defences against some of the biggest names in MMA history and has a solid argument for being the best of all time
conor however did, people were calling him the GOAT and P4P number 1 without defending his title even once for gods sake
plenty of people were convinced conor was the GOAT or would be in the near futureConor beat the #1 P4P fighter (Jones is, but he was out) in the world though, so at least you can make an argument. No one ever seriously thought Conor was the GOAT. That was like a Sherdog Meme. Neither were "hype"
Um, you been living in a cave the past 3 years???
But just for argument's sake let's pretend that's true. And if so, then Dana's been doing a horrible job as a promoter. Because he's been working his proverbial tail off to make people genuinely believe that this whole time.
