lol these threads always bring the Sherdog racists out of the woodwork. Keep it on Stormfront, or in the War Room.

I agree....I was even going to put in my post that blacks excelled in a different type of athleticism....I just wanted that clarified.... Btw in on a mobile so its hard to locate the links you talking about(reffering to their cardiovascular system)...did it have something to do with them having smaller but very efficient lungs? On the flip side I've read studies about white having larger lung capacity. One last thing....when you refer to blacks having the power/speed gene more often than non blacks....are you reffering to power as defined below. Verb-"TO MOVE OR TRAVEL WITH GREAT FORCE"

Well, I am not the most educated person on the details you are asking. I was quoting more than stating myself. As much as I like to research, Im on a limited time frame at the moment given that Im going to the movies in a bit, so regarding their cardiovascular system Ill just leave this quote from one of the links:
"That Kenyans (and others in the region) have a biological advantage over other groups of athletes coming from different parts of the world appears to be corroborated by a number of studies which show them (a) able to perform at a higher percentage of their V02 Max (e.g., 89% vs. 81% - Noakes, 1990), and (b) having quadriceps with greater capillarization, smaller muscle fibers which contain mitochondria that are closer to capillaries, and more muscle enzymes which burn fat and spare glycogen and protein (Saltin in Burfoot, 1992). Such a profile gives Kenyans what appears to be a high resistance to fatigue when compared to other groups of people."

I don't know about the lung capacity thing, but it wouldn't come as a surprise to me. Im still not sure how much that plays into sports aside from of course swimming.

With regards to the power/speed gene, again my knowledge is limited but ACTN3 is a protein found only (I believe) in fast twitch muscle fibers. This means it is relevant to short bursts of power. Its use would be pretty limited in most strongman competitions, for example, which require more endurance of strength.

Or maybe he took a 6-0 lead in the first minute, and coasted because he didn't wanna risk losing the gold medal when it was already int he bag.
just curious, did u watch?

Karelin and Taymazov could have been UFC champs and then some. But the best of them all could have been Stephen Neal.

Neal beat Brock in the NCAA finals, won a world Gold medal right out of college. Then won a bunch of Super Bowl rings with the Patriots despite never playing college football. THAT, my friends, is an A level athlete.

Awww, somebody is easily offended by truth and facts because it isn't very pc. How dare I make a suggestion of racial differences. What about proven differences in reaction time, cardio, etc?

Oh nos, I probably just triggered you again. Should I get you a tissue, Nancy?

Except what you said was not really factual. You made the claim blacks are genetically superior athletes. Because they dominate 2 maybe 3 sports and because these happen to be some of the most popularized sports in the mainstream (NBA NFL) that makes you think theyre better athletes. That is a fallacy. Theres hundreds of sports. Blacks dominate basketball and sprinting. You might be able to add american football to that however the black/white disparity isnt as great. Thats about it. And actually only west africans are great sprinters. East africans are terrible sprinters but excel at long distance running. So there is even variation within the race depending on geography and culture and how certain people adapted to different environments. It would be like me saying whites are better athletes because they dominate swimming, cycling and weight lifting. No race is any better or worse athletes. Just different for different factors and that does not stop any individual of any race being very good and athletic at any sport. And weve seen plenty of examples like Cullen Jones in swimming or Larry Bird in basketball. Its at minimum much more complicated than your simplistic conclusion. There are a myriad of perhaps physical adaptative, social, cultural and economic reasons that can even possibly give illusions of racial superiority within a given sport.

And as silly as it is to base athletic merit or success purely on muscle types and proteins I cant seem to find any source other than William Saletan at Slate who offered up those statistics on race and the prevelancy of ACTN3. And he apparently got it from a single study over a decade old from 2003.

From a more recent 2012 source it is quoted
"So although ACE and ACTN3 are the most recognized genes when it comes to athletics, neither is clearly predictive of performance. The predominant idea 10 or 15 years ago that there might be two, three or four really strong contributing genes to a particular trait like muscular strength "is kind of falling apart," Roth says."
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/muscles-genes-cheats-2012-olympics-london/

Could that "predominant idea from 10-15 years ago" be like the one in the 2003 study?

Just for sake of argument lets say even if the old idea and statistics were true. Why say fast twitch muscle is "better" than slow twitch muscle or that having fast twitch muscle is indicative of being a "better" athlete when they both have their pros and cons and relate to different areas of athleticism and sports?

Another good recent PDF about the overall subject and more specifically within it opposes the 2003 statistics of the prevelancy of fast twitch or slow twitch muscles according to race.

Sweet Gay Jesus what a beast.

Another freak Cuban athlete, but still 33 which is relatively young for a HW. This dude is 6'5", 260, and he just tied Alexander Karelin's record by winning his third consecutive olympic gold medal in greco roman. He is now considered by many the greatest wrestler of all time.

It is rumored that he has also been training in mma since as far back as 2009.

First of all, no name? Like, really dude?
Second of all, he can't pass USADA.

I figured that would be easy to find with all the details I've given about him. Googling something like "cuban 3 time greco roman champ" probably works.
What an absolute idiot.
