PSH is like THE best supporting actor of his generation. Sure he is a good lead actor (capote and my personal like, pirate radio), but he fits soo well in all of his supporting roles (the big lebowski, the master, boogie nights..) that I have a hard time comparing him and DDL.

DDL is a character actor living in a lead's body. The only person that I see competing with him in that category is Joaquin Phoenix.

But, if I had to vote between both of them, I'd go with PSH just cause of his range. He'll do anything from action to comedy, and ever year or so having a great breakout role in a drama. He can do everything, and still does. Unlike DDL who does 2 movies a decade and collects copious awards on such few roles. They just really have lived two different careers.

I always loved PSH's performance as Lester Bang in Almost Famous. He wasn't in the movie much, but killed it in when he showed up in the movie.
