Even a broken clock surrenders a major American city to aligator infested flood waters twice a day..
Yeah hurricanes was a bad choice. Should probably just give up on that one TS
There was also the one in Houston a few years ago that didn’t kill a lot of people but destroyed an immense amount of property
I have lived in the Northeast for the last 30 years..Every hurricane season the news reports a Category 4 or 5 heading for us..Every year the supermarkets get packed with people buying milk, all the milk..
90% of the time by the time the Category 4 hits, it’s a tropical storm, and all the dummies are stuck with 10 gallons of milk,,
Maybe in other parts of the Country the news doesn’t exaggerate, but up here, it’s all they do..

The Northeast.... k.
Now try Florida, Louisiana. Little bit different.

To be fair, many (most) places weather hurricanes just fine. Go figure, if you build a city not suited to deal with hurricanes well, it won't deal with hurricanes well. For every picture you show, there are going to be literally hundreds of places hit by dozens of hurricanes that suffered only minor damage. Keep in mind that the OP was about media reporting, and this is how the "the most trusted name in news" presents (some) hurricanes:

As for Covid, well, the initial panic estimates (from academics, widely cited by the media) had the place I live in with 800,000 infected and exponentially more deaths than we have right now, as we tick around at about 1% of the estimated number of infections/deaths. Yes, 1%.
Riots? I don't know, but something tells me that the social impact will be far, far greater than the actual damages.
I'd say you can nitpick if you want, but there is a reasonable interpretation of the OP. If you selectively pick and choose, of course you can make it seem silly - but be aware that you're selectively picking and choosing.
This seems more War-Roomish to me than Mayberry'ish.
