I started hunting so I can upgrade my satchel and it took me 2 hours and a Youtube video to realize the little stars actually mean something lol. I kept wondering why I would never get perfect pelts. This star rating for each animal is a dumb move by Rockstar imo. Every animal should start off as perfect and go down from there depending on how you kill it. Finding a perfect animal can take a while, not to mention when it's a tiny rabbit or squirrel. How has hunting in this game been for you? For those who have upgraded all their satchels, how long did it take?
I've had the most success hunting so far by being on my horse and just chasing the animals lol. I've spent so much time sneaking, applying lotion to camouflage my scent, drop bait etc.. Just to see these little shits run away as soon as i'm in the perfect range and about to shoot. Not to mention, sometimes you shoot them right in the head and they still survive.
??? hunting was so easy. i actually did all the hunting shit and maxed the satchel (protip: there's no reason to do it, it's pointless) and i didn't even play rdr2 much. and i think i only used lotion/etc in the tutorial shit for it. just use the right weapon and shoot it in the head/heart.
What clunk are you refering to? Never understood these comments. The game is amazing. If you're talking about clips during the story where you have to take part in the action by pressing a button, than yea, that's kind of dumb. But other than that, i'm not sure what you're talking about.
Meh. I like it. You just gotta find a the star animal, then make sure you use the right weapon to kill it. If it were easier, it'd be boring.
I picked up Red Dead 2 over the Winter sale since its on Steam now for PC but I'm only about 15 hours into it so far. I'll check back when I have to hunt stuff, so far I'm struggling to control the speed of my horse while not getting bitten in the ass by wolves.
Yep. It's much easier now that I know the stars actually mean something. Saves a lot of time. I picked it up on Steam around the same time. Been hooked since then. The game is lots of fun. You'll get the hang of it. The beginning is a little long.
Yea I felt like the first 10 hours was cut scene hell, I felt like I was watching a mini-series. I do enjoy that kind of thing though so no foul there but I did feel things were dragging a bit. I think one reason why is there is so much going on in Red Dead it takes a while to learn all the basic commands. I laughed my ass off at the drunken Saloon sequence that seemed to go on forever with Arthur getting progressively more hammered.
Yea, that Saloon mission with the other dude was hilarious. The game does take a while to get used to and like you said, the beginning can drag a bit. But once you get a bit further the story really gets interesting and the fun starts. There's a whole lot you can do. PM me if you want to try online sometime. I could add you on Steam. Haven't really fiddled with the online yet. I'm still absorbed by the story mode.
you didn't even figure out hunting to the point to making a thread on here, so i'm guessing you have a ways to go. you'll find out.
The hunting is perfectly fine. You just need to not be a moron, sprint your horse everywhere, and actually scout for animals. Find one, and headshot it without it knowing. Simple.
There's nothing to find out. I'm on chapter 5. I just didn't take the time to hunt until now. I did some hunting in the last couple hours, it ain't too bad afterall.
in the western area of the map, past Strawberry, there's a legendary deer. Kill it and take the items it drops to the fence in Rhodes. He'll craft you an item which makes getting perfect pelts easier.
