The most well rounded current champ GSP fights in the most one dimensional kind of way.

    Black belt in Kyokushin karate.
Not sure his degree in BJJ.
And from what I hear, the Canadian Olympic Wrestling team is to thank for his amazing wrestling.

He is the safest player in the game. That's all.
One dimensional, but relies on wrestling (almost only) to win fights.

He sets up his takedowns with his striking, and once he gets them down, he uses his BJJ to maintain and improve his position.

Doesn't seem that one dimensional to me...

Even though he fights safe, I feel this is a risky fight for GSP.

I think GSP is much better overall but Hendricks can knock him out cold with one punch.

He doesn't always wrastle - sometimes he jabs his opponent until their eyeball falls out.

His suffocating, tight guard passing isn't exactly a BJJ clinic or that high level for that matter. I wasn't putting him down, nice to know who you prefer at WW.

The hell? He outstruck Shields, Fitch and Koscheck. He outstrikes wrestlers and outwrestlers strikers. If anything, he is ridiculously well-rounded and that is why he is so good.

On a related note, pretty much every Brazilian who's fought in the LHW division has a blackbelt in BJJ yet never uses it, and always looks to beat their opponent on their feet.

GSP uses his tools when needed. He's the smartest fighter out there.... it just happens that the rules in the UFC allow him to use his wrestling more than his other skills.

    Yeah, he mixes up actually.
Like against Alves who is a superior striker, where he frustrated him via wrestlefuck and gnp, but when they stood up Alves was totally tired and busted and then, GSP put some good boxing on him.

That's better. And his past few fights it seems he'll set up a TD with a nice combo and repeat.
